PENNYWISE SET TO LAUNCH NEXT LEG OF U.S. DATES
WITH TWO LOS ANGELES HALLOWEEN SHOWS
OCTOBER 28 AND 29
Southern California’s quintessential punk rock band PENNYWISE—JIM LINDBERG (vocals), FLETCHER DRAGGE (guitars), BYRON McMACKIN (drums) and RANDY BRADBURY (bass)–will launch their next leg of U.S. tour dates with two special Los Angeles Halloween shows on Friday, October 28 and Saturday, October 29. PENNYWISE will be joined by openers Ignite (both nights) and Guttermouth (Saturday). These dates mark the seminal band’s first hometown-area shows in over a year and will be followed by U.S. shows with Bad Religion and then Sick Of It All.
PENNYWISE are touring in support of their latest, and eighth, studio album THE FUSE (Epitaph), which debuted at #78 on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart with sales of 13,780. Over the course of their 17-year career–with overall sales of nearly two million albums–PENNYWISE has come to define the Southern California hardcore sound. THE FUSE proves PENNYWISE have no intention of compromising their unflinchingly aggressive sound and stands out as one of the band’s most powerful offerings to date. Throughout the album, PENNYWISE delivers songs of anthemic self-empowerment and politically charged wake-up calls.
Here are some recent critical accolades:
“The Fuse finds Pennywise sounding like the best version of itself.”
–Shawn Macomber, Outburn, October 2005
“Fletcher Dragge buffers the band’s sharp-edged rhetoric with blistering assault weapon-style power chords, lashing at high velocity around the songs’ pounding, anthemic choruses and Alice Cooper-inspired hooks.
-Jaan Uhelszki, Guitar World, October 2005
“From the onset, it’s clear: The Fuse is classic Pennywise. And truly, would anyone expect anything less? For 17 years, these speedy melodic-punk purveyors have stayed true to themselves and their signature sound. And this, their eighth studio album, follows in the footsteps of their latest releases with increasingly socio-political overtones, namely Land of the Free? and From the Ashes (their most politically charged yet). But naturally this record doesn’t only contain overtly socio-political diatribes like ‘18 Soldiers,’ the hectic ‘Fox TV,’ and the extremely powerful ‘Dying;’ there are also personal, introspective songs including the more mid-tempo and affecting ‘Closer,’ ‘Take a Look Around,’ and the phenomenal ‘Best I Can’…Tight, thought-provoking, yet still fun and energetic punk tunes? Keep ‘em coming!”
–Janelle Jones, Chord, August/September 2005
