THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND
SET TO RELEASE NEW SINGLE ‘HIGH COST OF LOW LIVING’
AS THEY TOUR NORTH AMERICA;
PERFORMANCE ON ‘THE TONIGHT SHOW WITH JAY LENO’
SET FOR SEPTEMBER 2
In the midst of their summer North American tour, THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND will release a second single from their critically lauded HITTIN’ THE NOTE album (Peach/Sanctuary). “The High Cost Of Low Living” goes to radio July 21 as the follow-up to the album’s debut single “Firing Line.” In a recent live review, Geoffrey Himes of The Washington Post (6/27/03) said, “…the new songs—several of them destined to become set list staples for years to come…’High Cost Of Low Living,’ and the tale of wild nights and rough mornings is reinforced by guitar licks soaring in exhilaration and rhythms knotted in regret…” On Tuesday, September 2, the ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND–GREGG ALLMAN, BUTCH TRUCKS, JAIMOE, WARREN HAYNES, MARC QUINONES, DEREK TRUCKS and OTEIL BURBRIDGE–will perform live on “The Tonight Show.”
The band’s 2003 tour, which has included packed amphitheater shows as well as performances at major festivals, runs through September 21 in Washington state. As usual, the group has welcomed some select guests on stage during the tour. Artists joining the ALLMANS so far include Susan Tedeschi, Karl Denson (whose group Tiny Universe has opened some of the shows), Danny Louis, Chris Littlefield, Ryan Jordan, Larry McCray, Pinetop Perkins and the Texas Horns.
Of the live show, writers have been equally enthusiastic:
“They came, they jammed, they conquered.”
