PRESSURE 4-5 HIT THE ROAD WITH HOOBASTANK;
“BEAT THE WORLD” CONTINUES TO BUILD AT RADIO
After a successful U.S. tour with Alien Ant Farm, PRESSURE 4-5 are now on the road with Hoobastank in support of their DreamWorks debut BURNING THE PROCESS. This four-week trek kicked off November 29 in Seattle and wraps up December 22 in Dallas, taking the group to markets including San Francisco, Las Vegas, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Detroit and New Orleans.
On BURNING THE PROCESS, PRESSURE 4-5 sing about the everyday occurrences and dilemmas that really matter–work, faith, friends, love–and the need for resilience in the face of overwhelming challenges. The group’s distinguished fusion of hard rock fury, vocal passion and thought-provoking lyricism are evident on the album’s first single, “Beat The World,” which continues to impact active and modern rock radio nationwide. It’s currently bulleted at #39 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock chart, while the album is bulleted at #24 on the “Heatseakers” chart. In addition, the Marc Webb-directed video for “Beat The World” is in rotation at MTV and MTV2.
Composed in the wake of the sudden death of frontman ADAM RICH‘s best friend, the track “started out as personal writing and eventually turned into a song,” RICH explains. “I wanted to write about this event in a way that was more uplifting than ‘fuck the world’ kind of angst. We all know the world is a fucked-up place, but you can’t just turn your back on it. You’ve got to work with what you have, overcome it and be a better person for it.”
BURNING THE PROCESS and “Beat The World” are garnering critical acclaim from the media. Here’s a sampling:
“Hard-rocking and thought-provoking. The track “Beat the World” beats the nuts off half the other crap out there.”
–FHM, November 2001
“…crowd-pleasing crunch-and-groove guitar and positive lyrics…”
–Meredith Ochs, Guitar World, December 2001
“…a revitalizing blend of post NY hardcore…combined with a shade of emocore, alt. rock and a dab of new metal overtones, which when mixed altogether make for a blisteringly aggressive slab of melodic modern metal…this is easily one of the most impressive and well-rounded debuts to land in stores this year. It’s passionate and motivational, utilizing both sullen emotion and positive aggression to penetrate the listeners’ senses in a constructive way.” 4.5/5 (rating)
–Wookubus, Pimp Rock Palace (Internet publication) 10/2/01
“The debut of this Santa Barbara-based band burns with enough hard-rock intensity to send an arena of wrestling fans into a pyrotechnic frenzy…Though plenty melodic, the album is packed with aggression, with the quintet building pressure on frenetic guitar riffs and slab-like basslines.”
–David Simutis, HITS 10/12/01
“Sweat flies from my forehead, while elbows and various other physical extremities pummel every square inch of my flesh. My own private mosh-pit is the greatest gift Pressure 4-5’s major label debut, Burning The Process, can bestow…Pressure 4-5 sticks to what makes a rock band truly rock…two grinding guitars, a pounding drummer, thumping bass and a lead singer who has perfected the art of the catchy hook.”
–Jessica Jardine, Daily Nexus (Santa Barbara, CA) 10/11/01
