SCOTT GRIMES
RELEASES SECOND SINGLE ‘LIVIN’ ON THE RUN’
AND HITS THE ROAD FOR SELECT DATES INCLUDING
SHOW FOR U.S. SOLDIERS AT FORT HOOD, TEXAS
Singer/songwriter/actor SCOTT GRIMES will release his second single “Livin’ On The Run” to Hot AC and rock radio on June 20 and will perform at a select number of radio shows in support of the new release, plus a special concert for U.S. soldiers at Ft. Hood, Texas. GRIMES—also known for his part as the new chief resident on “ER” as well as from “Band of Brothers”—released his second album LIVIN’ ON THE RUN in February. The album’s first single “Sunset Blvd.” reached #17 on Billboard’s AC radio chart.
The trek will begin June 15 in Memphis, TN, followed three days later at the military base in Ft. Hood, TX. “I’ve done shows for the military before, and they’re always just all-out madness,” says GRIMES. “Maybe because they know me from ‘Band of Brothers’ or maybe they can relate to my songs. I don’t care—the chance to be on stage and perform live is why I picked up the guitar to begin with.” Most recently, GRIMES performed a sold-out show at the Roxy in Los Angeles (see photos at www.wireimage.com).
When the album was being completed earlier this year, plans were made for a full-on concert tour, but his role as Dr. Morris on “ER” expanded into a full-time job—he’s now “Chief Resident” on the esteemed NBC show. Taping for the season has concluded and SCOTT is now ready to tour. “We all knew Noah Wyle was leaving the show,” says SCOTT, “but no one knew how it would evolve. I’m so proud to be a part of that show, but music’s always been my first love.”
The album–featuring 14 songs written by GRIMES–was recorded in Los Angeles at Capitol Records and was produced by Tom Fletcher (Yes, Infectious Grooves) with orchestration by the esteemed Paul Buckmaster.
LIVIN’ ON THE RUN showcases GRIMES’ passion for the craft of great singer/songwriters, with a rock sensibility. “I wanted to write what my version of what ‘modern classic rock’ would be,” the Massachusetts native says. “I’m big on melodies and the unforgettable music that you can hear once or twice and know it. I definitely took what I learned from the greats and incorporated it into my own sound.” In an 8-star (out of ten) review in Music Connection (2/27/05), Scott Perham said the album “features the modern rock sensibility of Train blended into the radio-friendly pop-rock style of artists like John Waite and Bryan Adams. Combining this marketable medley with solid songwriting, crisp, clean vocals and universally relatable lyrics, LIVIN’ ON THE RUN presents the potential to climb to the top…with some serious velocity.” FMQB also weighed in (1/12/05), saying “So you’re thinking to yourself, oh great another actor turned singer. Well think again…Musically it’s right in the pocket and chock full of melody, while Grimes delivers an exceptional vocal performance.”
Throughout the years in front of the camera, GRIMES never abandoned his first love, and kept writing songs. LIVIN’ ON THE RUN reflects many of the songwriter’s first-hand life experiences. “I rarely write metaphorically,” he says. “But these aren’t ‘stories’ like in the country music tradition—these are about the towns I’ve passed through rather than the ones I’ve lived in. A lot of them start with stories about people I know, then evolve into fiction.” The track “Rock ‘n Roll Girl,” for example, began as a story about his sister in Boston, and morphed into a song about the desperation and seedy living in Hollywood.
