As SOZAY wraps up his debut national U.S. tour with hip-hop veterans House of Pain, Big B and The Dirtball, the rising Los Angeles rapper has hit #10 this week on Billboard magazine’s “Uncharted”: http://www.billboard.com/charts#/charts/uncharted. “Uncharted” selects the top developing artists who have yet to appear on a main Billboard chart and ranks them according to streamed plays, page views and total number of fans on: MySpace, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Last.fm, iLike and other social media platforms.
SOZAY has been introducing his seamless combination of jaw-dropping rhymes and head-nodding beats to U.S. audiences on the month-long trek which included a sold-out show last Friday (April 8) at Irving Plaza in New York.

SOZAY today is set to premiere the video for “High Hopes,” the first single off his debut EP titled Who Is Sozay? to support the growing popularity of the single. Directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Steve Guerrero, the video underlines escapism from the pressures of daily life: www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7_W4oO3mGs.

Check out what critics are saying about SOZAY:
“A versatile rhyme-slinger who can balance creative wordplay (“You fish couldn’t school me in an aquarium”) with hard-hitting delivery, Sozay does his childhood heroes proud on this debut release. ‘Last Call’ is a worthy club banger, and ‘So L.A.’ racks up an entertaining string of hometown shoutouts, but the real tour de force is ‘Guerrilla Warfare,’ a jaw-dropping, gazillion-bar freestyle set to a dizzying string of unlicensed samples that name-checks everyone from David Hasselhoff to Prince to Seabiscuit (Churchill Downs represent!). He’s heading out on tour this month with House of Pain—those dudes had better bring their A-game, or Sozay’s going to steal every show.”
–Andy Hermann, METROMIX (March 11, 2011)
“Once I heard the track ‘So L.A.,’ I was sold. In my opinion the last great west coast album was Cube’s Death Certificate, Sozay’s explosive EP ‘Who is Sozay?’ brings back those great days of the 323.”
—RABIKNOWS.COM “Now You Know” (hip-hop, March 11, 2011)
“Rapper SOZAY has earned a slot on the He Who Breaks The Law tour with House of Pain. The LA-based native is busting out of the underground hip-hop scene on the strength of his debut EP, Who Is Sozay?”
–Kevin Wierzibicki, (CAMPUS CIRCLE, 2/23/2011)
“Musically, the beats he rhymed over were a comfortable blend of heavy, bass-laden songs, while staying true to some old school samples. In the rap game, and specifically for a rap album that I listen to, the production aspect is more of a building block than the lyrics themselves. Fortunately he has chosen a great vessel to sail his story’s ocean with.”
–Flak, BEHIND THE HYPE.COM (hip-hop, 2/14/2011)
“Striving to provide fans with meaningful rhymes packed with emotion and heart, Sozay prides himself on his ability to comfortably expose his insecurities and give people a true insight into who he really is. Considered a lyrical mastermind, Sozay isn’t afraid to push boundaries and challenge today’s hip-hop standards.”
