CONFIRM TOUR DATES WITH THIRD EYE BLIND AND VERTICAL HORIZON
VIDEO FOR “I THINK GOD CAN EXPLAIN” ADDED TO VH1,
AS SINGLE CONTINUES TO CLIMB UP ADULT TOP 40 BILLBOARD CHART
Building on the success of their single “I Think God Can Explain,” SPLENDER plan to stay out on the road through the summer with a month’s worth of dates on the forthcoming Third Eye Blind and Vertical Horizon tour. The band–WAYMON BOONE (lead vocals, guitar), JONATHAN SVEC (lead guitar), JAMES CRUZ (bass), MARC SLUTSKY (drums)-are currently criss-crossing the country with a series of radio shows which will segue into the Third Eye Blind outdoor amphitheatre tour July 7 in Minneapolis.
Meanwhile, the video for “I Think God Can Explain”–lensed by director Chris Applebaum (Lit, Semisonic, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Luscious Jackson)–was just added to VH1. The song-described by WAYMON as being “about a deep and dark obsession”–continues to move up the “Adult Top 40” chart in Billboard where it’s currently bulleted at #18. “I Think God Can Explain” marks the third single SPLENDER‘s Todd Rundgren-produced debut album HALFWAY DOWN THE SKY (C2/Columbia), and the follow-up to their SPLENDER‘s Top 20 Modern Rock hit “Yeah, Whatever.”
Earning a reputation as a hard-hitting rock band with great melodic pop sensibilities over brooding and intense lyrics, SPLENDER translate their potent blend of impassioned vocals and ringing guitars into an electric live show. Of a recent performance, Tom Roland of the Nashville Tennessean said, “The New York City-bred foursome played with power and energy, offering muscular chording and in-your-face harmonies. Hard-nosed, beat-heavy modern rock.”
“We consider ourselves to be very seasoned veterans,” says WAYMON. “We’ve played seemingly everywhere around the country and around the world before we ever even got a record deal…so we learned a lot about the essence of a performance, regardless of language, and just how to keep things real.” Check out SPLENDER in the following cities:
