STAIND’S ‘CHAPTER V’
DUE OUT AUGUST 9 ON FLIP/ATLANTIC;
BAND TO TOUR THE U.S. WITH 3 DOORS DOWN BEGINNING JUNE 30 IN NEW HAMPSHIRE
As preparations are made for the release of their upcoming album CHAPTER V, STAIND will head out on the road with 3 Doors Down, Breaking Benjamin and No Address for a cross-country U.S. tour.
Due out August 9 on Flip/Atlantic, CHAPTER V marks the group’s fifth album and is the follow-up to the band’s 14 SHADES OF GREY. Recorded at Allaire Studios in Shokan, NY and at the band’s Springfield, MA rehearsal space, the CD was produced and mixed by David Bottrill (Tool, Peter Gabriel, Mudvayne, Godsmack). The album’s first single “Right Here” was the #1 most added track in its first week at Modern, Active, and Mainstream rock radio. Other highlights on the album include “Falling” and “Paper Jesus.”
For now, some lucky fans are getting a sneak preview of the new music. STAIND singer AARON LEWIS and guitarist MIKE MUSHOK are in the midst of visiting 16 cities and have invited small groups of fans onto their tour bus to hear a selection of tracks from the album.
MUSHOK explains further: “Aaron and I have been out the last couple of weeks previewing the record for fans across the country and the response has been awesome! I really can’t wait to get back out on the road and start playing these songs live.”
STAIND–LEWIS, MUSHOK, bassist JOHNNY APRIL and drummer JON WYSOCKI–will head out on the road prior to the album’s release for a U.S. tour with 3 Doors Down, Breaking Benjamin and No Address. The dates kick off in Manchester, New Hampshire on June 30th and will continue into September.
With chart-topping international success, multi-platinum album sales and critical accolades, STAIND are leaving an indelible mark on the contemporary music scene. The band’s last two releases–2003’s critically acclaimed platinum 14 SHADES OF GREY and 2001’s quintuple platinum BREAK THE CYCLE–both entered the Billboard “200 album chart” at #1. STAIND’s intensity was also displayed on their 2002 gold-certified DVD MTV Unplugged and 1999’s double platinum DYSFUNCTION.
Here are what some critics had to say about the band’s 14 SHADES OF GREY:
“It’s a connection you feel in the purity and conviction of Aaron Lewis’ voice as well as in themes that examine matters of youthful self-esteem in ways that are both sympathetic and vulnerable.”
–Robert Hilburn, Los Angeles Times, May 18, 2003
“In contrast with earlier albums, Grey is more light than dark…The new songs are sturdier and more melodic, and the band deserves credit for taking the sunny side of the street instead of the genre’s low road to gloom wallows and celebrations of adolescent fixations.”
–Edna Gundersen, USA Today, May 27, 2003
