STRUNG OUT TO HIT THE ROAD IN SUPPORT OF ‘AN AMERICAN PARADOX‘:
PUNK ROCK OUTFIT TO EMBARK ON NATIONAL
TOUR FOR 4TH ALBUM;
PLAYING SPECIAL SHOW MAY 4 AT THE JOINT IN LAS VEGAS
STRUNG OUT will hit the road this spring on a national headlining tour in support of their fourth album AN AMERICAN PARADOX, released this week (April 23) on Fat Wreck Chords. Known for their thick guitar and powerful drum work topped with fierce vocals, the explosive punk rockers have enlisted bands The Line, Glasseater, Poison The Well and label-mates Rise Against to alternate in support slots throughout the tour that begins Friday, May 17 in Henderson, NV. Ruffio will open for the entire trek. In addition, STRUNG OUT will close out the 2002 EA Sports Supercross series with a special concert Saturday, May 14 at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
The album’s first single “Cemetery”–a first-person look at the seedy underbelly of the group’s native Los Angeles–debuted last week on CMJ’s College Rock chart with spins at WXDX in Pittsburgh, KTCL in Denver, KNDD in Seattle and WBCN in Boston. The video for the song–recently shot in Los Angeles by director Derek Dale–combines adrenalized performance footage with scenes of a dark angelic female character wandering through the city’s underside.
Says rock scribe Dee McLaughlin on Virginmega.com about the new album: “Think gnarly hard-core metal meets Incubus meets Face to Face and your halfway there, add the influence of the Descendants and Bad Religion and you’re right on the money. Pure adrenaline.”
Since the early ’90s, STRUNG OUT–JASON CRUZ (vocals), ROB RAMOS (guitars), JORDAN BURNS (drums), JAKE KILEY (guitars) and CHRIS AIKEN (bass)–have created significant and compelling music that rallies emotional energy into songs that are both aggressive and melodic. Years of relentless touring with Pennywise, the Offspring, Bad Religion, NOFX, Papa Roach and the Vans Warped Tour have earned the group critical praise and a loyal fanbase around the world. STRUNG OUT have also previously released 1994’s Another Day in Paradise, 1996’s Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues and 1998’s Twisted by Design on Fat Wreck Chords. The combined sales of these records exceed 500,000 copies. AN AMERICAN PARADOX marks their first album in four years, opening with the rapid-fire “Velvet Alley” and climaxing with “Cemetery.”
