THE BEST OF HEART: ANN and NANCY WILSON are back with HEART: GREATEST HITS, a 17-track collection just released on Sony Legacy. Of the new album, ANN commented: “Some of our most memorable melodies, lyrics, and irreverent moments have been laid down here and give a pretty accurate description of our eclectic artistic soul in the late Seventies and early Eighties.” This compilation features a variety of songs from HEART‘s extensive career (the group has sold more than 29 million records in the U.S.), including classics such as “Crazy On You,” “Barracuda,” “Magic Man” and “Dog And Butterfly,” as well as “Strong, Strong Wind,” a new track written by Diane Warren. NANCY describes the song by saying: “It [the song] has that real great honest sort of gospel ache.” Of the new album, E! Online noted: “…it’s a smorgasbord of singer Ann Wilson’s late `70s hook-rock, from the opening sqawl of `Magic Man’ to the primal chunga-chunga-chunga of `Barracuda’ and later on to subtly funky cuts like `Straight On.'” Meanwhile ANN and NANCY continue to keep busy with LOVEMONGERS–their acoustic-based side project–and a variety of other endeavors. Beginning October 29, ANN will be a featured vocalist in the Seattle run of “Teatro Zinzanni–Love, Chaos & Dinner,” an extraordinary European theatrical cabaret. This theatre experience breaks new artistic territory with its blend of interactive theater, spectacle and comedy and is the only show of this kind in the United States. Of her performance, ANN comments: “This is the first role I’ve ever taken. I’ll be playing a 1920’s dark chanteuse. This character will be a challenge for me vocally because I will be singing Cole Porter and Gershwin.”
