THE BLACK CROWES AND OASIS
ARE DISCUSSING PLANS
FOR THE ROCK EXPERIENCE OF 2001,
A CO-HEADLINING SUMMER TREK
Management reps for America's THE BLACK CROWES and England's OASIS have recently met to discuss the possibilities for mounting what is certain to be the rock experience of the summer of 2001: a co-headlining American tour that unites two bands who exemplify the best of live American and British rock; who've earned vast critical acclaim; and who are fronted by siblings: CHRIS and RICH ROBINSON (THE BLACK CROWES) and LIAM and NOEL GALLAGHER (OASIS).
Both camps are discussing potential cities and venues as well as a launch date–conceivably in June–for what is destined to be a historic tour.
Says Pete Angelus, manager for THE BLACK CROWES: "The history, credibility, resilience, talent, passion and music of both bands speak for itself. If we can work out the details, the tour will mark the pairing of America and England's greatest Rock N' Roll bands. God help us all."
Says Marcus Russell, manager for OASIS: "The idea of these two great bands touring together has excited everyone we speak to. It's the ideal combination for those who take their rock charged with passion, soul and energy."
Over the past decade, The Black Crowes have consistently delivered high-voltage rock & roll soul, cementing their reputation as one of rock's premiere bands, starting with 1990's multi-platinum selling debut Shake Your Money Maker, straight through 1999's By Your Side and 2000's Greatest Hits 1990-1999: A Tribute To A Work In Progress, and on to this past summer's critically acclaimed collaboration Jimmy Page & The Black Crowes: Live At The Greek. The Black Crowes' mix of hard blues, heavy riff rock and inward-looking, often deeply personal lyrics clearly represent contemporary rock & roll's best: it's a distinctive sound with a sense of abandon, celebratory heat and confrontational attitude. No wonder that the U.K.'s Melody Maker hailed them as "The Most Rock n' Roll Rock n' Roll Band in the World."
OASIS belong to a tradition of acts in the history of music who get to define their generation. To know that right then, at that moment, no one is making music that is more important, that expresses more clearly the hopes and aspirations of the time. From the release of Definitely Maybe in 1994 to the massive concerts at Knebworth in 1996, Oasis were indisputably that act. Since then they've continued to tour the world, written 2000's Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants and remained the indisputable world champions of rock'n'roll.
THE BLACK CROWES are now in the studio with producer Don Was recording their debut album for V2 Records, set for release in the spring of 2001. OASIS will release a live album Familiar To Millions-recorded this past July at the sold-out Wembley Stadium-in November on Epic.
