THE BLACK CROWES FLYING HIGH
AS FREE AGENTS
WITH SOLD-OUT SHOWS ACROSS THE COUNTRY
As THE BLACK CROWES continue to notch more sold-out shows and deliver what many are saying are the best shows of their career, they’re being pursued by the major and indie record labels and publishing companies to sign new deals. For now, the fiercely independent band have chosen to remain free agents in control of their own destiny–a stance that’s resonating with their loyal and devoted following who’ve come to expect nothing less from a band whose unpredictable set lists vary every night.
Led by brothers CHRIS and RICH ROBINSON, THE BLACK CROWES are also set to perform this summer at the biggest festival in Tokyo and Osaka (Summer Sonic Festival 2005, August 13 & 14) and are now rumored to be scheduling a European tour in January. The band’s first leg of headlining shows kicked off with seven sold-out shows in New York City–which celebrated "15 Years of Cosmic Rock-n-Roll"–and concludes Sunday, May 29 in Montgomery, AL. Next up, the band have been invited as special guests of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers for an American shed tour that spans the time period of June 7 through September 3. In the midst of these shed dates, THE BLACK CROWES will perform at the massive Bonnaroo Festival (June 11) and headline more shows across the country, including a five-night stand at the historic Fillmore in San Francisco (August 5, 6, 7, 9, 10).
The band’s website–www.blackcrowes.com–has seen, "more traffic and activity than ever before and more new visitors on a daily basis than anything we have previously experienced," says Pete Angelus, the group’s longtime manager. Angelus adds that "this is a new era for The Black Crowes. It would be premature to focus on anything other than their phenomenal live shows at this point in time. They’re doing what they want to do, they’re playing what they want to play—all on their own terms–and you can hear that excitement in the music which is being resoundingly reciprocated by their audiences."
