NEW STUDIO ALBUM—THEIR FIRST IN SIX YEARS—IS ON TAP FOR 2007
Management for THE BLACK CROWES has confirmed that CHRIS and RICH ROBINSON have been in the studio in New York and Los Angeles working on material for a new album.
Pete Angelus, the band’s longtime manager, reveals that the album is expected to be released sometime in 2007. It would mark THE BLACK CROWES’ first album of new studio material in six years.
"From the inception of their reunion,” says Angelus, “Chris and Rich have written a substantial amount of material which they have been sorting through recently with friend and producer Paul Stacey. We expect to continue recording at the conclusion of the fall tour and are planning for a 2007 release."
Angelus said that it remains undecided whether or not the record will be released through a major label or if they will choose to release the record independently.
Since reuniting and re-connecting with their loyal fans last year, THE BLACK CROWES have been performing what some called "the best shows of their career." While they achieved a career watermark by headlining their New Year's Eve show at Madison Square Garden, the band also played seven sold-out shows at New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom, performed five-nights at the Henry Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles and were headliners at three of the most prestigious festivals in America (New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, Bonnaroo, and Austin City Limits Festival). Summing up the allure of THE BLACK CROWES' concert experience, Mikael Wood of The Village Voice (12/28/05) said the band "remain one of rock's best live acts, as hard-grooving as during their heyday and caked with an extra layer of rambling-man soulfulness."
From the beginning, when they roared out of the gate with their multi-platinum debut album SHAKE YOUR MONEYMAKER in 1990, THE BLACK CROWES have played by their own rules. They’ve gone against the grain and formed an intimate connection with their audience, while maintaining their independence and creative freedom from standard industry practices. This has earned them the title of “The Most Rock ‘N Roll Rock ‘N Roll Band In The World.” Along the way, they have achieved worldwide album sales exceeding 19 million. Their panoramic live shows are legendary for set lists that change every night and signature incendiary musical explorations. THE BLACK CROWES are one of the few contemporary bands who’ve shared the stage with Jimmy Page, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, AC/DC, The Who, Neil Young, The Grateful Dead and many other legendary artists.
