THE BLACK CROWES
TO PERFORM SONGS FROM THEIR FORTHCOMING 'LIONS' CD AT
ANNUAL SOUTH BY SOUTHWEST MUSIC CONFERENCE IN AUSTIN, TX
The BLACK CROWES will make their first-ever appearance at the annual South By Southwest music conference in Austin, TX Friday, March 16. They'll perform a mix of new songs from their upcoming V2 debut album LIONS-due out May 15-and concert favorites at the 1500-capacity Stubb's.
The special show follows a recent album completion performance in New York, of which Billboard.com's Jonathan Cohen said, "Dressed for the occasion, shaggy frontman Chris Robinson sported a knee-length white shirt with a multi-colored lion in the center. He and his bandmates…got heads nodding from note one of 'Midnight From The Inside Out,' a thick, midtempo number marked by a stellar guitar solo from Rich Robinson. Next was 'Lickin', highlighted by the guitarist's super funky, rhythmically off-kilter riffing."
The songs on LIONS–by RICH and CHRIS ROBINSON–are about need, desire and soul survival. Some of them have a tortured beauty and grace, like "Losing My Mind," where CHRIS sings, "Every time I fall/I bring you along/Cuz I need you there," and the epic album closer "Lay It All On Me," a poignant mix of raw truths and self-realization. Other songs–like "Ozone Mama," "Miracle To Me" and "Soul Singin'"–were born from the sheer joy of being alive. The BLACK CROWES are rounded out by drummer STEVE GORMAN, keyboardist ED HARSCH, guitarist AUDLEY FREED and new bassist ANDY HESS.
Stay tuned for details about an exciting spring tour.
