VANS WARPED TOUR
KICKING OFF FRIDAY, JUNE 24 IN DALLAS
THROUGH AUGUST 14 IN HILLBORO, OR
LAUNCH TATTOO FAN CONTEST
TO WIN TICKETS TO ANY SHOW
THIS SUMMER
Santa Cruz, CA-based reggae-rock-metal band THE EXPENDABLES are gearing up to spend their summer on the road. Kicking off this Friday, June 24, the band will be performing on the Tilly’s/AP Stage at the Vans Warped Tour all summer long, marking their first time appearing on the entire annual outing.
In preparation for their summer on the Vans Warped Tour, THE EXPENDABLES have launched a tattoo contest for one lucky fan to win a pair of tickets to any Vans Warped Tour show of their choice, along with a copy of the band’s latest album PROVE IT and a signed drum head. Fans spent weeks uploading photos of their Expendables-inspired tattoos to the band’s Facebook page so fans can vote on their favorite by “Liking” photos in the album called “The Expendables Fan Tattoos.” The tattoo that receives the most “Likes” between midnight June 23 and midnight June 24 wins. For more information, go to: http://www.theexpendables.net/tattoocontest/
THE EXPENDABLES also recently sat down to answer some Facebook fan questions for KROQ.COM about spending the summer on the Vans Warped Tour. That video can be viewed here: http://youtu.be/-4xibC8OvyU.
PROVE IT, their fifth full-length overall album, was released on May 11, 2010 (Stoopid Records) debuting at #4 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Chart, #30 on the Independent Chart and #158 on Billboard’s Top 200 Chart. The album also reached #15 on iTunes Top 200 and #5 on iTunes Alternative Charts. Produced by Butthole Surfer guitarist Paul Leary (Meat Puppets, Sublime) and NOFX’s El Hefe, PROVE IT features 17 tracks including the single “How Many Times” and “Corporate Cafeteria” as heard on SiriusXM Radio’s The Faction. The album also features a guest appearance by long-time friend G. Love on the track “Wells” as well as appearances by various members of Slightly Stoopid throughout the album.
Since 1997, THE EXPENDABLES—GEOFF WEERS (guitar and vocals), ADAM PATTERSON (drums and vocals), RAUL BIANCHI (lead guitar) and RYAN DEMARS (bass)—have staked their claim in the California inspired surf/rock genre with a sound all their own that blends reggae, punk rock, metal and 80s-style dueling guitar solos. In 2007, after years of putting out numerous albums on their own, the band signed with Stoopid Records, a new independent label formed by Slightly Stoopid, as the label’s first non-Stoopid release. Their first release on the new label, the self-titled THE EXPENDABLES, became an instant classic by fans and received critical praise. The band have since shared the stage with artists like NOFX, Slightly Stoopid, Pennywise, Pepper and 311 among many others.
