The two-month tour–a nationwide trek where cutting-edge musical artists join together to promote social consciousness and awareness–raises funds for the National Hopeline Network (1-800-SUICIDE), a suicide prevention and crisis hotline, and the Youth America Hotline! 1-877-YOUTHLINE (1-877-968-8454), a peer-to-peer line pairing youth callers with youth crisis workers in their area. In addition, the TAKE ACTION! VOL. 4 two-disc compilation CD was recently released on Sub City Records, a division of Hopeless Records.
Over the past four years, the TAKE ACTION TOUR and CD compilations have raised over $170,000 for the National Hopeline Network. Since its inception, Sub City Records has raised over $500,000 for multiple charities.

*The National Mental Health Association (NMHA), the country’s oldest and largest nonprofit organization addressing all aspects of mental health and mental illness and the Kristin Brooks Hope Center (KBHC) have partnered to prevent youth suicide by advocating for increased investment in children’s mental health services and research and operating national hotlines such as 1-800-SUICIDE, Youth America Hotline! (YAH!) and the 877-GRADHLP line. The two organizations have also teamed up with the Hurley International Presents: Sub City Records Take Action Tour, which will visit 35 cities in an effort to educate youth about depression and suicide.
**The Capitol Hill Take Action! press conference will call on Congress to fully appropriate the $82 million funding for the Garrett Lee Smith Memorial Act which passed September 9, 2004. The Garrett Lee Smith Memorial Act was introduced by Senator Gordon Smith (R-OR) in memory of his son who died by suicide. The Garrett Lee Smith Memorial Act will help establish critical and needed support for mental and behavioral health services to students on college campuses. Further it acknowledges the significant toll that mental and behavioral health problems can take on a student’s ability to succeed in college. A majority of the funds authorized in the bill are dedicated to statewide Youth Suicide Early Intervention and Prevention Strategies.
