AT WORLD CAFÉ IN PHILADELPHIA AT 8:00 PM
NEW TRAILER FOR THE FILM UP NOW
As THE STARTING LINE prepare for the release of their live concert CD, film and documentary DVD SOMEBODY’S GONNA MISS US–out November 10 via Image Entertainment–the group is gearing up for their official release party Monday, November 9 at World Café in Philadelphia (3025 Walnut Street, 8:00pm). For the event, the group will screen portions of the DVD and fans can expect live performances from the band’s latest projects including Person L (Kenny Vasoli), Cheap Seats (Tom Gyskiewicz) and The Traded Series (Mike Golla).
SOMEBODY’S GONNA MISS US–the group’s first-ever live CD and DVD– features an hour-long documentary DVD chronicling THE STARTING LINE during their preparation for and journey on their 2008 U.S. tour which culminates in their thunderous and heartfelt Bamboozle performance on May 4. Through intimate and honest interviews with the band, friends and family, fans will get a glimpse into the inner workings of the group which–after eight years together– decided to take a hiatus in 2008 to pursue other projects. The full-length concert DVD and live CD is highlighted by the band’s stunning performance in their Philadelphia hometown at the Electric Factory on April 18, 2008. The live CD and DVD boasts 18 live songs and performances including fan favorites “Direction,” Island,” “Best of Me,” “Bedroom Talk,” “Something Left to Give” and many more.

Formed in 1999 in Churchville, PA outside Philadelphia, THE STARTING LINE–KEN VASOLI (vocals, bass), MATT WATTS (guitar), TOM GYSKIEWICZ (drums), MIKE GOLLA (guitar), BRIAN SCHMUTZ (keyboards)–have been revered for their invigorating blend of punk-pop, indie rock and emo earnestness which garnered the group accolades throughout their career. About The Starting Line:
THE STARTING LINE’s 2002 debut album Say It Like You Mean It earned the group a #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart, sold over 300,000 copies on the indie label Drive-Thru and spawned a surprise hit with “The Best Of Me,” a pop-punk anthem that was embraced by MTV. The band followed that up with a solid year on the road. After making a solid name for themselves and building their impressive fanbase through relentless touring, the group collectively decided to make the jump to major label Geffen Records for their next full-length Based On A True Story released May 10, 2005. All did not go according to plan; despite a strong debut at #18 on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart, headlining the Vans Warped Tour that summer and going to on perform the biggest headlining shows of their career, the label de-prioritized the album and withheld support, choosing to not service their anthemic first single “Bedroom Talk” to commercial radio. At what should have been the pinnacle of their career, the band begged Geffen to be released from their contract and signed to Virgin after then president Jason Flom caught one of their live shows and was stunned at the sight of 10,000 kids singing along with the band. The band teamed with Grammy-winning producer Howard Benson to record Direction (Virgin) which was released July 31, 2007. Due to the merger of EMI (Virgin) and Terra Firma, The Starting Line was cast into a nearly identical situation as the aforementioned with Geffen Records. On March 5 2008, after eight years, the group announced they would take an indefinite hiatus to pursue other projects. THE STARTING LINE performed multiple times on the Vans Warped Tour and has toured with Paramore, Fall Out Boy, The All-American Rejects, Brand New, Taking Back Sunday, New Found Glory, Sum 41, Good Charlotte and All Time Low, among many others.
