TRANSPORTS LA’S SUNSET STRIP MUSIC EXPERIENCE TO AUSTIN
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 14 – SATURDAY, MARCH 17
Hollywood, CA’s VIPER ROOM impacted Austin this month during SXSW with THE VIPER ROOM IN AUSTIN, four days and nights of showcases at the Apple Bar (120 5th St. Austin)—a 400 capacity indoor/outdoor location highlighting its world famous Sunset Strip music experience. From Wednesday, March 14 – Saturday, March 17, over 30 bands performed for music industry and local Austin crowds at the event sponsored by FLAUNT magazine, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Monster Energy Drinks, Indie 103.1 FM Los Angeles, BC Ethic Clothing, Camelsmokes.com, Musicplustv.com and Yfly.com.
THE VIPER ROOM AT SXSW featured a décor similar to that found at the venue in Los Angeles with its main room disco ball, cabaret style lighting and pristine sound system. It was the perfect setting to discover some of the club's most prominent acts including: The Shys, Mohair, Will Dailey, Reeve Carney & The Revolving Band, Pico Vs. Island Trees, Metro Station, Black Market, Air Traffic, Ra Ra Riot, Margot & The Nuclear So & So’s, Birdmonster, The Ringers, Valient Thorr, Big Bang, Hello Stranger, The Ruse, Dirty Sweet, Oliver Future, Stoney, Joshua James, James Carrington, Amanda Mosher, Ronnie Day, Mozella, Low Stars, Peter Walker, The Tender Box, The Wombats, The Stock Market Crash, Liam And Me, Nico Vega and Bloodcat Love.
Perez Hilton, of the infamous celebrity website Perezhilton.com, wrote in his March 18 2007 posting: “We then made our way to the Viper Room to check out The Tender Box, a group from Los Angeles we wrote about last summer. They're these Mexican-American boys singing Brit pop with a dance beat, kinda like The Killers. And, The Tender Box were one of the stand-outs of SXSW. They're awesome live, have very hook-laden songs and are going to be very popular (in two years).”
