TOM PETTY TO BE JOINED BY THE HEARTBREAKERS
FOR GEORGE HARRISON TRIBUTE CONCERT
TOM PETTY will now be joined by the HEARTBREAKERS at the George Harrison tribute show at London’s Royal Albert Hall November 29, 2002–the one-year anniversary of George’s passing. Taking time out from their “The Last DJ” tour for this special event, the band will perform the music of George Harrison (“Taxman” and “I Need You“). The tribute show will also feature such artists as Joe Brown, Eric Clapton, Jools Holland, Jim Keltner, Jeff Lynne, Paul McCartney, various members of Monty Python’s Flying Circus, Leon Russell, Ravi Shankar and Ringo Starr.
Proceeds from the concert will be donated to The Material World Charitable Foundation. Funded by George Harrison since its establishment in 1973, the foundation supports the arts, music, education and people with special needs.
The HEARTBREAKERS feature Mike Campbell (guitars), Benmont Tench (keyboards) and returning original Heartbreakers bassist Ron Blair as well as longtime associates Scott Thurston (guitars, harmonica) and Steve Ferrone (drums).
