BAND CONTINUE TO EARN CRITICAL ACCLAIM FOR ‘THE DEFINITIVE ACT’
After wrapping a successful fall tour with Motion City Soundtrack, TSUNAMI BOMB will return home to the San Francisco Bay area for a much-needed break. Beginning February 3, TSUNAMI BOMB will kick off a three-week trek with headliners Rise Against in San Antonio, TX. The tour will include a hotly tipped stop at the Henry Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles on February 10. The group’s first-ever solo concert DVD TSUNAMI BOMB–LIVE AT THE GLASS HOUSE is now set for release May 17, 2005 via the Kung Fu Records “The Show Must Go Off!” live DVD series.
TSUNAMI BOMB–AGENT M. (lead vocals), GABE LINDEMAN (drums), MATT MCKENZIE (bass, backing vocals) and JAY NORTHINGTON (touring guitarist)–blew away crowds during their recent U.S. tours in support of their acclaimed Kung Fu Records breakout album THE DEFINITIVE ACT.
In her Cleveland Plain Dealer CD review/preview (December 17, 2004), writer Annie Zaleski raved:
“Formed in 1999, the quartet [Tsunami Bomb] specializes in no-frills chord chugging and safety-pin siren calls from vocalist Agent M- who purrs like a new wave pop princess with lungs of steel on the group’s sophomore album,The Definitive Act. Thanks to tunes heavily influenced by the melodic bounce of Cali punk legends Bad Religion and Descendents, however, TB’s live show is an infectious riot of pogo-worthy noise.”
In his CHICAGO MUSIC GUIDE live review (December 10, 2004), writer Gary Hart hailed:
“Kicking off their set with the popular single, ‘Take The Reins’ off their break-thru album The Ultimate Escape (2001), Tsunami Bomb prepared the audience for what was to be an amazing collection of pulse pounding, dynamite tunes. Agent M sang with outstanding precision the entire set. Complemented appropriately by Gabe’s fast and heavy drumming, Matt’s magnificent bass playing, and new guitarist on the block, Jay Northington’s passionate execution of fast riffs. The song list became a blend of older numbers, as well as new tracks off their latest album The Definitive Act. The band’s third official release which proves their talent as writers and performers, only gets better with time. Melodies such as ‘5150,’ ‘Being Alright,’ ‘Say it if You Mean It,’ and a short medley, including the first single off the new album, ‘Dawn on a Funeral Day,’ kept the crowd moving and screaming for more. “
Meanwhile, THE DEFINITIVE ACT received praise from writer Trevor Kelley with a four-out-of-five-star CD review in the December issue of ALTERNATIVE PRESS (December 2004). The magazine described the diverse album with varied influences as “expansive pop-punk…and at least a dozen other stylistic turns.”
