SLASH–the iconic, Grammy-winning, rock guitarist–is at the Sundance Film Festival to announce the upcoming films on tap in 2011 and beyond for SLASHER FILMS. SLASHER FILMS is the horror film production company formed by SLASH in partnership with Michael Williams and Rob Eric of Scout Productions. On Sunday, January 23, SLASH held a Press Conference and Party at the House of Blues-Foundation Room in Park City, UT to discuss the exciting film projects heading into production this year.
SLASHER FILMS has the advantage of having one of the most respected musicians in the world at its helm. 2010 was a landmark year for SLASH, and 2011 shows no signs of him slowing down. The guitarist and songwriter released his debut solo album, the acclaimed SLASH which bowed on the Billboard Top 200 chart at #3 (#1 on the Rock chart, #1 on the Independent chart, and #1 on the Hard Music chart). Digitally, the album also became the #1 overall digital album and hit #1 on iTunes in 13 countries. The 14-song disc features collaborations with vocalists Ozzy Osbourne, Iggy Pop, Ian Astbury, Lemmy Kilmister, Chris Cornell, Rocco DeLuca, Dave Grohl, Myles Kennedy, Kid Rock, Adam Levine of Maroon 5, Duff McKagan, M. Shadows of Avenged Sevenfold, and Andrew Stockdale of Wolfmother. SLASH is currently on tour nationwide for both headlining shows and dates with Ozzy Osbourne until February 22; see all dates here: http://www.msopr.com/?q=node/6069/3.
About SLASHER FILMS:
SLASHER FILMS is a film production company specializing in the horror genre. Founded by Michael Williams and Rob Eric of Scout Productions (Session 9, Transsiberian) and iconic rock guitarist SLASH, the company’s goal is to produce edgy, slick, low to medium budget original character driven horror films reminiscent of the visionary horror fare of the late 1970’s and 80’s. Under the creative direction of Academy Award winning producer Michael Williams, Rob Eric and SLASH, the company will begin making one to two horror movies a year starting in 2011 with an eye towards supernatural, psychological thrillers and terrifying horror. SLASHER FILMS is dedicated to bringing horror fans original content directed by the best of today’s horror maestros in the vein of Neil Marshall (The Descent), Breck Eisner (The Crazies), Ti West (House of the Devil) and Brian Bertino (The Strangers), and will also provide a platform for showcasing up-and-coming masters of horror, including directors such as Pascal Laugier (Martyrs) and Jaume Balaguero (REC).
About SLASH:
SLASH is widely considered one of the greatest rock guitar players of all time. He has received countless accolades and awards including a 2007 induction into Hollywood’s RockWalk (located in front of Guitar Center in Hollywood) alongside his idols Jimmy Page and Jimi Hendrix. An original member of iconic rock band Guns N’ Roses, the Grammy-winning SLASH helped the band create signature sounds like the guitar riff of #1 hit “Sweet Child o’ Mine” and “Welcome To The Jungle.” The band dominated the 1980’s and 90’s music scene selling more than 100 million albums worldwide and ushered in a decade of hard charging rock music. After leaving the band, SLASH went on to critical acclaim in his personal project Slash’s Snakepit, and global success with supergroup Velvet Revolver. He has been widely sought after by the biggest musicians of all time, performing with everyone from Michael Jackson to Stevie Wonder to Ray Charles. SLASH is one of the marquee playable characters in Guitar Hero III, has two signature Gibson guitars in his name, and authored his own top-selling biography SLASH in 2007. Slash recently landed on the top of the charts with his first true solo album, SLASH. In addition to a long career filled with prestigious awards and accolades, SLASH was just honored by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce who named him as an official selection for 2011 to receive a star on Hollywood’s iconic Walk of Fame.
