ANNOUNCE FALL TOUR DATES
IN SUPPORT OF ‘DEAD AGAIN’ ALBUM;
TREK LAUNCHES OCTOBER 12
WITH LORDI SUPPORTING
Goth rock icons TYPE O NEGATIVE have announced a fall tour starting October 12, with Lordi supporting, in connection with their seventh album DEAD AGAIN. Released earlier this year via SPV Records, the album debuted at #27 on Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart, selling over 22,000 copies in its first week and earning high praise from Outburn magazine: “Few bands would have the foresight to combine punk rock, Sabbath, and goth, but Type O Negative has been doing it successfully for years. Dead Again is another gem in Type O’s cracked, rotted crown” (April/May 2007).
Consisting of PETER STEELE (vocals, bass), JOSH SILVER (keyboards), KENNY HICKEY (guitar) and JOHNNY KELLY (drums), the Brooklyn-based band made a strong return to the road this past spring when they headlined a successful cross country tour which included two sold-out nights in New York City as well as sold-out shows in Denver, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Chicago and more. The band’s live set draws from their catalog which includes the platinum-certified Bloody Kisses.
Here’s a sample of the critical praise that the band received for their 2007 live performances:
“…[Type O Negative] offered a 90-minute foray into their Beatles-meets-Black Sabbath world of the sick-and-twisted musically malcontent. Sick and twisted, yes (anything featuring the aforementioned characters would need to be), yet so deceptively brilliant in its delivery, it was scary. Not campy, cartoon scary, but full-metal-racket scary, a bludgeoning behemoth of dirge-drenched riffs, satirical rips and melancholic melodies crashing with an offsetting sense of lyrical wit that had their tongues planted firmly in cheek, and their other cheeks aimed high in the air. The results were a sonic discord that delivered doom via the warmth of musicality unbeknownst to modern metal…they use morose overtures and a wry, dare-me-to-care attitude to color metal mechanics that are rivaled by few on the live circuit.”
–Paul Gargano, LiveDaily.com, April 24, 2007
“The crowd clearly worships Type O Negative, they consistently chanted their name whenever and knew lyrics to almost every song…”
–Michael McNichols, Lumino Magazine (Chicago), May 29, 2007
“Type O Negative live is never a disappointment.”
–Kim Polen, Harder Beat (Texas), May 2007
