U.S. HEADLINING TOUR EXPANDS THROUGH MAY

The electro-indie duo UH HUH HER are set to release a 6-song EP titled BLACK AND BLUE on Tuesday, March 15 via Topspin. In celebration of the EP release, the critically acclaimed group–comprised of LEISHA HAILEY (keyboards, bass) and CAMILA GREY (keyboards, guitar)–will offer two songs off of the BLACK AND BLUE EP for free. The gorgeous and atmospheric “Never The Same” was selected by NYLON magazine and is featured as a free download on NYLONmag.com. UH HUH HER just launched the first leg of their U.S. headlining tour yesterday and have expanded the trek with a new run of shows that will take them to the East Coast through May (see all dates below). This week the duo head to Austin, TX for the SXSW Music Festival. On the road, they’ll perform songs off the BLACK AND BLUE EP and preview songs from their forthcoming new full length NOCTURNES–due out late summer–as well as play favorites from their critically acclaimed debut Common Reaction (see the critical response in about UH HUH HER below). On Friday, March 18 UH HUH HER perform at 12:00pm NOON at South By San Jose (1316 S. Congress Ave. Austin, TX) and later that night their entire set at “The Sessions Presents The Factory” (private location) will be streaming live from Austin at 10:30PM via www.livestream.com/thesessionsfactory. On Saturday, March 19 at 12:30AM, the duo will headline The Continental Club (1315 S. Congress Ave) for their official SXSW showcase. The BLACK AND BLUE EP was produced by CAMILA GREY–except for “I’ve Had Enough” which GREY co-produced with Brad Thomas Ackley–and Chris Galland mixed the EP which was recorded at Plaid Studios. For the group’s forthcoming full length NOCTURNES, the duo teamed with Wendy Melvoin (Prince & the Revolution) for production duties and recorded at Wendy’s personal studio within the famed Henson compound in Los Angeles. Mixed by Tchad Blake and mastered by Adam Ayan at Gateway, NOCTURNES features the song “Same High” which was written for and featured in the acclaimed Golden Globe-winning and Academy Award-nominated film The Kids Are All Right.

About UH HUH HER:

Formed in Los Angeles, UH HUH HER debuted to a packed house of industry heads, critics and fans, many of whom might have been more familiar with HAILEY’s character “Alice” on “The L Word” than they were with her role in '90s indie duo The Murmurs. For GREY, it was her first group project since tenure with the lo-fi indie-rock outfit Mellowdrone. Co-produced by GREY and Al Clay (Pixies, Blur), their full-length debut Common Reaction was a full serving of new wave electro-pop that broke through with the anthemic single "Not A Love Song." The album went on to receive an overwhelming amount of critical praise, with the NEW YORK TIMES hailing the disc "…a lush, layered collection of dizzying, synth-driven pop" (Amanda Petrusich, 10/24/08) and the VILLAGE VOICE adding “Uh Huh Her’s debut album is a stylized mix of guitars and synthesizers framed by melancholic yet glamour-tinged vocals” (Zoe Gemelli, October 29-November 4). Elsewhere, the LOS ANGELES TIMES noted, "Uh Huh Her's sleek, synth-infused sound is closer to Adore-era Smashing Pumpkins or Metric than it is to the moody English alt-rocker (PJ Harvey). The band's debut album, is an electro-pop feast characterized by layers of overlapping vocals" (David Greenwald, 5/29/08). The ROLLING STONE coined them a “Sultry indie electro duo…” (Caryn Ganz, 10/23/08) and the NEW YORKER added, “…[Uh Huh Her] traffic in throbbing synth-pop that's destined to make mascara run” (Kelefa Sanneh, 10/24/08). SPIN added, “[Uh Huh Her] create a lush soundscape of lilting piano arrangements, percolating electronic threads, and sparkling vocals a la Metric and the now-defunct Organ” (Samantha Promisloff, 7/27/08).
