ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL XIII
SELLS OUT IN ADVANCE OF ITS MARCH 25-27 DATES
TICKETS ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE FOR
NORTH AMERICA’S FIRST MAJOR MUSIC FESTIVAL OF 2011
AS IT DEBUTS AS A THREE-DAY EVENT
ULTRA IS THE WORLD’S FIRST EVER
MAJOR ELECTRONIC MUSIC FESTIVAL TO EXPAND TO
THREE DAYS AND COMPLETELY SELL OUT
The promoters for the ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL (UMF)–happening in Miami, FL, Friday, March 25, Saturday, March 26 and Sunday, March 27–have announced tickets are no longer available. 2011 marks the festival’s debut as a three-day event since its inception 13 years ago, and its SOLD OUT status speaks volumes about concertgoers’ strong demand for the electronic music genre as well as mainstream artists influenced by it.
With 150,000 attendees expected over the three days, ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL is the first major North American music festival happening in 2011 and leads the charge of what’s hot in live music for festivals on this continent in 2011. It is also the world’s first ever major electronic music festival to expand to three days and completely sell out.
Headlined by Tiësto, deadmau5, The Chemical Brothers, David Guetta, Carl Cox and Empire of the Sun, it marks the first festival show of the season for acts like Duran Duran, Pendulum, Crystal Castles, Cut Copy and over 200 international leading electronic music performers, DJs and cutting-edge bands.
“POP music festivals in 2011 face the same challenge as always: branding new dishes from the communal stew of touring bands. But through social media the taste making classes keep expanding, along with every alternative subculture; the festivals, in turn, keep swelling and diversifying, despite the economy,” wrote Ben Ratliff in the New York Times (February 17 [online], February 20 [print], 2011). “The Ultra Music Festival, in Miami, has grown to three days (from two) of electronic dance beats. This year’s edition, March 25 to 27, at Bicentennial Park, encompasses the mainstream names in trance and house — Tiësto, David Guetta and the ubiquitous will.i.am — as well as weird dubstep hybrids like Rusko, and live bands, including Holy Ghost!, from New York, and, gulp, Duran Duran.”

About ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL:
As the world’s most famous outdoor electronic music event, UMF has won “Best Music Event” by the International Dance Music Awards (IDMA) from 2005 – 2010, “Best International Dance Music Festival” by the Ibiza DJ Awards in 2008 and “Best Festival” by the Village Voice Media New Times consecutively five years running from 2005 through 2009. Originally created as a pure EDM (electronic dance music) festival in 1999, UMF has grown through the years to present not only the genre’s hottest, biggest and best headline artists (The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, Tiësto, deadmau5, David Guetta, Underworld, Moby, Fatboy Slim, Carl Cox, Paul van Dyk, Armin Van Buuren, Erick Morillo, and Paul Oakenfold, to name a few), but also crossover headline bands that incorporate EDM elements in their music and have a history or new beginning in the EDM community and culture (The Cure, The Killers, The Black Eyed Peas, Santogold, The Ting Tings, The Bravery). In 2010, UMF was recognized as the fourth Top Grossing Concert by Pollstar’s mid-year issue and saw more than 100,000 attendees coming from 68 countries and territories and all 50 U.S. states and Puerto Rico. In addition to the annual Miami festival, UMF continues expanding internationally this year with UMF Ibiza and UMF Brasil in Sao Paulo on November 6. The sold-out festival featured Fatboy Slim, Carl Cox, Moby, Above & Beyond and more. In 2010, UMF had its most successful year with two sold-out days drawing over 100,000 people, featuring more than 350 international leading electronic music performers, DJs and cutting-edge bands alongside Miami regional artists. With the continued support of the biggest artists in the world, UMF is leading the charge of what’s hot in live music for North American festivals as the first major U.S. festival of the year.
