VOODOO EXPERIENCE 2011:
OCTOBER 28, 29 AND 30 IN
NEW ORLEANS CITY PARK
Distinguished as the final musical celebration of the annual U.S. music festival season, the VOODOO EXPERIENCE will take place in New Orleans’ City Park, Friday, October 28, Saturday, October 29 and Sunday, October 30. Marking VOODOO’s 13th consecutive year, the 2011 Halloween weekend line-up will once again feature top-tier and innovative artists from a variety of musical genres, plus reflect the multitude of cultures that define this historic and beloved American city. This year’s VOODOO will continue to grow its dedicated dance space, Le Plur, which was reintroduced to concert-goers last year. This area quickly became a fan favorite, with a stellar list of electronic talent including Paul van Dyk, Deadmau5, the Crystal Method, Kaskade, Swiss Chriss, Ferry Corsten, and Die Antwoord, among others. Stay tuned for news about the artists who will be performing at the 2011 VOODOO EXPERIENCE.
Last year, festival producers REHAGE ENTERTAINMENT signed a deal with New Orleans’ City Park officials that will keep the annual event in City Park through 2019. The 1,300-acre park–the region’s principal recreation site that attracts over 7 million visits each year–has been home to the VOODOO EXPERIENCE since its 1999 debut, with the exception of 2005 VOODOO which was displaced by the city’s hurricane damage.
“City Park is once again happy to host the Voodoo Experience,” says Bob Becker, CEO of City Park. “Along with the city and state, we recognize the economic impact to the community.”
Here’s some critical feedback from the 2010 VOODOO EXPERIENCE:
“…those perfect festival days, where everybody plays with added gusto, the sets don't overlap, the weather couldn't be better, and everyone leaves satisfied and already looking forward to next year….Halloween transformed City Park into a masquerade freak show and a dreamland for fans of people watching. Cookie Monsters, Frank the Donnie Darko rabbit, and a couple dressed as local Senate candidate David Vitter and his mistress coexisted for the day in the beautiful scenery in City Park, a space accented by oak trees and Spanish moss.”

“Arriving on the scene of Voodoo Music Festival, it looked like a desolate, teenage wasteland–and we mean that in the best way possible. From melodic pop to Motown to a headlining set by Muse…Along with the beautiful weather, everything that is fascinating and inspiring about music emerged…And who doesn’t want to spend Halloween in New Orleans?”

“In a town that reveres music, costumes and Voodoo culture, Halloween weekend is a time to celebrate local artists, check out a few monsters of rock at the Voodoo Music Experience…”
—MOG.COM, 11/2/10
“If you didn’t go to the Voodoo Experience this past weekend, you really missed something…the absolutely beautiful weather didn’t hurt. The stages on the left side of the site in City Park were lined up just right—they almost created a ‘street’ of different kinds of music—virtually all of it local. The dance/DJ stage was active all day and night, too.”
—OFFBEAT, 11/3/10
“Overall, Voodoo Festival was a life changing experience and one that must be witnessed by all.”
—ONWAXMAGAZINE.COM, 11/1/10
“New musical blood is what made the 2010 edition of the Voodoo Experience memorable…”
—TIMES PICAYUNE, 11-2-11
“Each day of the festival it drew in huge crowds of people coming to enjoy local and national musical acts alike. All ages and races coming together over the music they love in beautiful City Park. At Voodoo Music Festival there is something for whatever your taste may be. I saw rock to hip hop, to jazz to burlesque and even more. In addition to all the fascinating music were all the extra events to help maximize the Voodoo Experience.”
