WAKING ASHLAND
SET THEIR SIGHTS ON JAPAN BEFORE RETURNING TO THE U.S. FOR
MORE TOURING AS THE BUZZ BUILDS ON ‘COMPOSURE,’
THEIR FULL-LENGTH DEBUT ALBUM
WAKING ASHLAND–building a buzz for their sublime piano-based rhythms, thoughtful lyrics and emotionally driven guitar rock–has been invited to headline the “New Blood Tour” for emerging artists on July 13 and 14 in Tokyo. Next, the band–who recently released their full-length debut COMPOSURE–will return to the U.S. July 17 for a two-week tour with Action Action, Spitafield and Gatsby’s American Dream before launching a two-month trek with both Jamison Parker and Veda.
The band–JONATHAN JONES (lead vocals/piano/keyboards), RYAN LALLIER (guitar/vocals), ANDREW GROSSE (bass/vocals) and THOMAS LEE (drums/percussion)–are coming off inspired performances and critical praise from their West Coast Vans Warped Tour trek and club tour with Jack’s Mannequin.
COMPOSURE–the follow-up to their popular 2004 I Am For You EP which debuted at #19 on the Alternative New Artist chart–is out now on Seattle’s Tooth and Nail Records. The band teamed with veteran punk and indie producer Lou Giordano (Ataris, Taking Back Sunday), and COMPOSURE is filled with infectious melodic flights, startling rhythmic shifts, and heartfelt lyricism.
WAKING ASHLAND’s live show and unique sound has drawn recent praise from the press. In his Vans Warped Tour live review, Hollywood Reporter writer Darryl Morden said, “Discoveries ranged from the crafted pop rock of San Diego’s Waking Ashland, a keyboard rarity amongst the day’s gauntlet of guitars…” (July 12, 2005). In addition, the Los Angeles Daily News noted that WAKING ASHLAND “could well be one of this year’s breakout bands…” (July 1, 2005) while the Long Beach Press Telegram declared, “Waking Ashland played some of the most melodic hook-filled music of the day. “
