KCRW’S MORNING BECOMES ECLECTIC
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 1
Los Angeles rock outfit WEST INDIAN GIRL have announced they have been tapped for a coveted performance slot on Morning Becomes Eclectic this Thursday, November 1. The critically acclaimed morning radio program airs weekdays from 9am to noon on Santa Monica-based public radio station KCRW. Their performance will air live at 11:15 am PST on 89.9 FM in L.A. and will be streamed worldwide at www.kcrw.com. The set will also be archived on the station site for future viewing.
“We played their early demos and we’re happy to finally have them on the show for a live performance,” said KCRW Music Director and host of Morning Becomes Eclectic Nic Harcourt.
The band—who is Robert James (vocals/guitar), Francis Ten (bass), Mariqueen Maandig (vocals/percussion), Mark Lewis (drums/backing vocals), Nathan Van Hala (keyboard) and Amy White (keyboard/backing vocals)–will perform material off their new album 4th & Wall out now on Milan Records. The Seattle Post Intelligencer describes West Indian Girl’s music as, “Sweet his and hers harmonies, horns, playful synthesizer melodies, sweeping choruses, elongated textural forays…” Expect WEST INDIAN GIRL to perform their single “To Die In LA,” an increasing favorite amongst the blog set, as well as “Blue Wave”–of which USA Today said: “This psychedelic surfing tune rides shimmering synthesizers and blissed-out harmonies that could have come straight off a Sweet record”–and many more.
