WOLFGANG GARTNER
RECEIVES GRAMMY® NOMINATION
IN 'BEST REMIXED RECORDING (NON-CLASSICAL)' CATEGORY
One of the world’s fastest rising stars in dance music, electronic music producer WOLFGANG GARTNER has been nominated for a Grammy® Award in the "Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical" category for his reworked version of house music producer Andy Caldwell’s “Funk Nasty” featuring Gram'ma Funk (Uno Recordings), marking GARTNER’s first-ever Grammy nomination.
The recently announced nomination closes out a benchmark year for GARTNER. In 2010, the Austin, TX-based producer debuted at #70 on DJ Mag’s prominent annual “Top 100 DJs” list, the world’s leading DJ poll and a who’s who collection of today’s biggest names in the electronic/dance genre that attracts over 350,000 votes, with over 10,000,000 people viewing the results yearly. In addition, GARTNER also debuted as a featured guest on BBC Radio 1’s influential Essential Mix series, hosted by tastemaker DJ/producer Pete Tong.
In addition, GARTNER released “Animal Rights,” a collaboration with his Ultra Music label mate recording artist deadmau5, to critical acclaim, with the Washington Post praising the song as an “…infectious, disco-happy new track” (8/31/10). After only three days from its initial exclusive release on Beatport, “Animal Rights” hit #1 on the specialty retailer’s best sellers chart and is still going strong to this day. GARTNER’s latest single “Illmerica” is also available now and his forthcoming single “Space Junk” will be released December 21 from Ultra Music. “Illmerica” and “Space Junk” will both be featured on his debut full-length album (title TBD), out spring 2011 via Ultra Music.
GARTNER kicked off the year by signing a worldwide partnership deal with Ultra Music, the New York-based, award-winning electronic music imprint. Aspects of the extensive deal include Ultra Music’s direct involvement in recording and touring, while also aiding wherever possible in GARTNER’s publishing, merchandising and sponsorship activities. The partnership will work to build and extend WOLFGANG GARTNER’s sound and identity around the world.
WOLFGANG will bring an epic 2010 to an end with a headlining performance at the annual Together As One New Year’s Eve celebration at the Los Angeles Sports Arena.
WOLFGANG GARTNER’s remaining tour dates for 2010 are as follows:
DATE | CITY | VENUE | |
Fri | 12/3 | El Paso, TX | Club 101 |

About Wolfgang Gartner:
The name Wolfgang is synonymous with greatness. Name your baby Wolfgang, and he may grow up to be one of the world’s leading chefs, or a member of a seminal band like Kraftwerk or Van Halen. In keeping with that tradition, in less than three years the producer and DJ known as Wolfgang Gartner—who recently was voted the #5 DJ in America by the readers of DJ Times—has gone from strength to strength, with eight #1 tracks on Beatport (including the site’s best-selling track of 2009: “Wolfgang's 5th Symphony”) and remixes for A-list artists (Black Eyed Peas, Timbaland, Britney Spears), all lauded by peers such as David Guetta, Tiësto and Pete Tong. As he moves forward, Gartner doesn’t want to just advance his art form—he also wants to put a fresh twist on Top 40 fare. “I definitely want to work with pop and rap artists as a producer.” So long as his identity and integrity remain intact: “I want to make what I like making, and if a rapper can rap on it, then great.” With numerous new projects in the pipeline, he still appreciates the distinction between world domination and overexposure. “I’m definitely about quality over quantity,” he concludes. With Wolfgang Gartner, only one thing is certain: his next move is always a surprise.
