LAUNCHES CAMPAIGN ON MOTHER’S DAY TO SAVE THE LIVES
OF WOMEN AROUND THE WORLD IN MEMORY OF HIS MOTHER

In observance of Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 12, platinum-selling, acclaimed singer, songwriter, musician ANDY GRAMMER is honoring the memory of his mother Kathy Grammer by carrying on her commitment and passion to help women and further the equality of all individuals.
Today (5/10), GRAMMER officially launches the KathyGramm campaign by raising awareness to women around the world who are victims of gender-based violence and asking his fans to help raise money to benefit and elevate these women through a partnership with the Tahirih Justice Center. Through funding, the Tahirih Justice Center protects courageous immigrant women and girls refusing to be victims of violence by elevating their voices in communities, courts, and Congress. It takes $5,000 for the Tahirih Justice Center to provide full legal representation as well as social and medical services to protect one woman or girl from violence.
Before her passing, ANDY’s mother worked closely with women in her community to help build their confidence and empower them. “My mom, Kathy Grammer, was a very bright light,” shares ANDY. “While she was alive her main passion was helping women. I can remember coming home to a group of women gathered around my mom. Her effect on them was similar to watching someone blow wind into a small flame until it became a fire. Women she touched would leave my house standing taller, inspired and committed to believing in themselves and the equality of men and women.”
ANDY has personally supported the Tahirih Justice Center for several years and served as Honorary Co-Chair for their recent Washington, DC gala. Their work in protecting immigrant girls and women seeking justice from gender-based violence has always been a cause that ANDY and his mother Kathy have both supported and felt compassionate about. For more information on the Tahirih Justice Center visit www.tahirih.org.
Contributing to the cause is easy. Supporters can donate $10 by simply texting “justice kg” to 52000 or–for those who would like to donate more–by visiting http://support.tahirih.org/kathygramm. GRAMMER’s goal is to save as many lives as possible. Since the KathyGramm website went live two weeks ago, GRAMMER’s fans have already raised over $12,000, saving the lives of two individuals, and are well on their way to saving their third.
