ADEMA TO MAKE OZZFEST DEBUT
AS MAINSTAGE ATTRACTION;
DEBUT ALBUM CERTIFIED GOLD AS ‘THE WAY YOU LIKE IT’ BUILDS ITS PRESENCE AT RADIO AND MTV/MTV2
ADEMA–one of rock’s biggest new success stories–will make their Ozzfest debut this summer as a mainstage attraction in connection with the exploding success of their newly certified self-titled gold Arista album. The Ozzfest trek launches July 6 in Bristow, VA and wraps September 8 in Dallas, TX.
“I couldn’t be more proud of ADEMA‘s first gold record and their development as a major touring act in the U.S. and Europe,” said Antonio “L.A.” Reid, President and CEO, Arista Records, commenting on one of the first rock bands that he signed to the company. “I take my hat off to Arista’s sales and rock promotion departments. Their knowledge and passion for all types of music has helped to break ADEMA and propel them to success in today’s contemporary music scene.”
Presently, ADEMA are touring the country with Alien Ant Farm as part of the SnoCore Rock Tour which concludes March 30 in Las Vegas, NV. These dates followed ADEMA‘s impactful performances on the Projekt Revolution Tour with Linkin Park and Cypress Hill.
ADEMA‘s current single “The Way You Like It”–which has reached the Top 15 on Billboard’s Modern Rock Track chart–is the follow-up to the album’s first single “Giving In,” a top 10 rock track. The band recently performed “The Way You Like It” on NBC-TV’s Last Call With Carson Daly (February 27), having already debuted it live on national television New Year’s Day on The Tonight Show. The Gregory Dark-lensed clip for “The Way You Like It” has been a Top 15 favorite at MTV2 and is in the Top 20 at MTV.
Onstage, ADEMA—MARK “MARKY” CHAVEZ (vocals), MIKE RANSOM (guitar), DAVE DeROO (bass), TIM FLUCKEY (guitar) and KRIS KOHLS (drums)–give added heft to their crunchy guitars, electronic underpinnings and big melodic hooks in moving songs that chart lead singer MARKY’s ascent from personal chaos.
In an interview with Paul Freeman of the Contra Costa Times (Contra Costa, CA; March 22, 2002), MARKY talked about the transformation that happens when ADEMA hit the stage. “The road gets difficult. It wears on you. But once I get onstage, I kind of become this different character, this person that just lets out everything that’s been bothering me that day.” Overall, “It’s been a big learning process through everything, a learning process about life, not just music,” he elaborates. “It’s been really good for me in that I’m concentrating on this band more than I ever have with anything in my life. We really take what we do seriously.”
Following the SnoCore dates, ADEMA will head overseas for a quick five-country jaunt–England, Scotland, Germany, France and Holland–between April 4 and 14. These shows will give ADEMA a chance to build on their rapidly growing fan base. “One thing that means a lot to me is when kids come up and tell us we inspire them and they tell us that our live shows are as good or better than our studio album,” bassist DAVE told the Deseret News (Salt Lake City, UT; March 15, 2002).
