ALANIS MORISSETTE’S DIVERSE ARRAY OF TV APPEARANCES;
SHE SINGS (‘RADIO MUSIC AWARDS,’ ‘ELLEN DEGENERES,’ ‘AMERICAN DREAMS’), ACTS (‘MAD TV’) AND TRADES OPINIONS (‘REAL TIME WITH BILL MAHER,’ ‘DINNER FOR FIVE’)
ALANIS MORISSETTE will make two high-profile TV appearances next week when she performs her hit single “Eight Easy Steps” on the Radio Music Awards (Monday, October 25) and the Ellen DeGeneres Show (Wednesday, October 27). These events will cap off an eclectic string of television activity that found the seven-time Grammy Award winner singing, acting and trading opinions on a diverse array of programs.
On October 15, ALANIS shared a panel with Jesse Jackson on HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher. She also sat down at IFC’s Dinner for Five table to tape a forthcoming episode with host Jon Favreau.
Look for ALANIS to perform her song “Offer”–from 2002’s Feast On Scraps CD/DVD–on an episode of NBC’s 1960’s drama series “American Dreams” airing November 7. She’ll also build on her comedy chops by doing two sketches with the cast of Mad TV for an episode airing November 6.
“Eight Easy Steps” is the current single from ALANIS’ latest album SO-CALLED CHAOS (Maverick Records), which also spawned the radio hit “Everything.” In his Paste review (April/May 2004), Tom Lanham wrote: “Musically, it runs a broad gamut from Far Eastern filigrees (‘Eight Easy Steps’) through jangly operatics (‘Excuses’) and sweeping symphonics (‘Not All Me’), to stunning centerpieces like the sitar-rooted ‘Knees Of My Bees’ and the techno-looped title track, whose chorus approximates the celebratory vibe of an Ibiza rave. The album–co produced by Morissette, Tim Thorney and the red-hot John Shanks–manages a rare feat, edifying as it entertains.”
