ALANIS MORISSETTE ANNOUNCES
‘JAGGED LITTLE PILL ACOUSTIC TOUR’;
THE “LIVE @ VH1.COM PRESENTS” DATES
WILL VISIT DISTINGUISHED VENUES STARTING JUNE 7;
‘JAGGED LITTLE PILL (ACOUSTIC)’ ALBUM OUT JUNE 13; EXCLUSIVE SIX-WEEK AVAILABILITY AT STARBUCKS
ALANIS MORISSETTE will launch her first-ever acoustic tour June 7 in Toronto, a multi-city trek visiting distinguished venues throughout North America before wrapping July 17 in Costa Mesa, CA. Billed as the “JAGGED LITTLE PILL ACOUSTIC TOUR,” the 27-date “Live @ VH1.Com Presents” jaunt coincides with the June 13 release of JAGGED LITTLE PILL (ACOUSTIC). The Maverick album is a new acoustic studio version of the seven-time Grammy Award winner’s groundbreaking 1995 release. In a unique agreement between Starbucks (NASDAQ: SBUX) Hear Music and Maverick Records, the album will be sold exclusively in Starbucks Company-operated stores in North America and via www.starbucks.com/hearmusic beginning June 13, 2005–ten years to the date of the original recording’s release–and throughout the six weeks of the acoustic tour, after which it will also be sold at traditional retail outlets.
For the upcoming dates–produced by Concerts West, an AEG Live company–the singer, songwriter and musician will be backed by her current touring band. It’s in this acoustic setting where ALANIS’ vocal intensity brings her lyrics to a new dimension. Tickets for the “JAGGED LITTLE PILL ACOUSTIC TOUR” begin going on sale Friday, April 22.
“I am having so much fun playing these newly interpreted songs, some of them with different harmonic tracks altogether,” says ALANIS in the midst of her European tour. She adds: “I notice that different layers of emotions emerge with these songs being broken down and re-visited. I can’t wait to tip my hat to this record in a way that also references the present and the future.”
ALANIS has re-teamed with Jagged Little Pill’s producer and co-composer Glen Ballard–for the first time since 1998’s Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie–to record the new acoustic album. JAGGED LITTLE PILL (ACOUSTIC) will feature all the songs that appeared on the original recording–including such global hits as “You Oughta Know,” “Ironic,” “Hand In My Pocket,” “You Learn” and “Head Over Feet”–in the same order as they did on the 1995 album, including the hidden track “Your House.” The 10th anniversary package–to be released June 13, 2005, ten years to the date of the original recording’s release–will include special footage from that era plus other bonus features.
The original album’s monumental success earned ALANIS four GRAMMYÒ awards: Album of the Year, Best Female Rock Vocal Performance (“You Oughta Know”), Best Rock Song (“You Oughta Know”) and Best Rock Album. At 21, she became the youngest artist to win the “Album of the Year” category and influenced a whole new generation of female singer/songwriters.
