ALANIS MORISSETTE HEADS TO EUROPE
MAY 22 AFTER CONCLUDING IN-PROGRESS
TOUR OF CANADA
As soon as she wraps her in-progress tour of Canada on May 18, ALANIS MORISSETTE launches her extensive trek of Europe and the U.K. Kicking off May 22 in Germany, the tour will bring the singer-songwriter-musician to such countries as Norway, Finland, Sweden, Holland, France, Czechoslovakia, Spain, England and Ireland before concluding July 17. These dates–in connection with her seven million-selling and critically acclaimed SUPPOSED FORMER INFATUATION JUNKIE album on Maverick Recording Co.–consist mainly of headlining performances with a few festival dates including the Montreaux Jazz Festival on July 17 in Switzerland.
Next up for ALANIS: the early June release of the single “So Pure.” In talking about the inspiration for the song, ALANIS says: “Both the expression of anger and the expression of joy have been equally vulnerable for me at different times in my life. I allowed myself to be inspired and infatuated with this person who is unapologetically and exuberantly themself.” She will direct the video for “So Pure,” which is being shot in Toronto.
Upon her return from Europe, ALANIS will make a performance at the 30th anniversary concert of Woodstock set for July 23-25 in Rome, New York. After a short break, she’ll join forces with Tori Amos for the “5 1/2 Weeks Tour,” a major North American tour of indoor and outdoor venues. Launching August 18 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, the tour will encompass 26 shows and conclude September 25 in Irvine, CA. The tour is being co-sponsored by MP3.COM and Best Buy.
