Last week (10/9) acclaimed singer/songwriter ANDY GRAMMER was in world-class company as he took the stage at the star-studded One World Concert “Common Ground For Peace” at the Carrier Dome at Syracuse University. The two-day celebration of peace, music and common ground featured an appearance from His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama and culminated with a four-plus hour concert with performances from music’s biggest names. Aside from ANDY, the crowd of 24,000 was treated to the sounds of Dave Matthews, Counting Crows, Phillip Phillips, A.R. Rahman, Matisyahu, Natasha Bedingfield, Swizz Beatz, Cyndi Lauper, Bebe Winans, Angélique Kidjo, Voices of Afghanistan, Souad Massi, Engelbert Humperdink, Roberta Flack, David Sanborn, Joanne Shenandoah, David Crosby and Nelly Furtado.
Mark Bialczak of The Post-Standard (Central NY) was in the house and took note of ANDY’s high energy set. “Popster Andy Grammer coaxed the crowd into a thunderous sing-along on his sweet hit ‘Keep Your Head Up.’ He jumped down into the crowd, roaming the aisle and slapping hands.” (10/9/12) Alyssa McKinley of Syracuse University’s News House also reported that “…Andy Grammer ran circles around the audience while singing his hit ‘Keep Your Head Up.’” (10/10/12)
This thrilling event comes at an exciting time in GRAMMER’s career. The third single from his self-titled debut album (S-Curve), “Miss Me” is approaching the Top 10 and building this week at #15. This comes on the heels of ANDY’s two back-to-back Top 10 hits at Hot AC, the nearly platinum Top Five“Keep Your Head Up” and gold-selling “Fine by Me.” According to Billboard magazine, ANDY is the first male artist to hit the Top 10 on Billboard’s Adult Pop chart with his first two singles since John Mayer in 2002.
Beyond the success at radio, the music video for “Miss Me” premiered September 8 on VH1’s “Top 20” weekly video countdown and immediately began climbing on the countdown, where it’s currently #11. Watch the video which has been viewed over 310,000 times online–now here:http://youtu.be/X3tldsg1Yt4. The video, shot in downtown Los Angeles with up-and-coming director Justin Baldoni (Jason Derulo, Sarah McLachlan, and Chris Wallace) and featuring actress Briana Evigan (Step Up 2: The Streets) and actor James Kyson (NBC’s “Heroes”), follows several different couples dealing with the pain of crumbling relationships and, although each scenario is unique, there is a common thread among them.
GRAMMER recently completed an eight-week national tour with Train and Mat Kearney and is currently out on a tour of colleges with singer-songwriterChris Wallace. The in-demand musician was extremely busy earlier this summer appearing on several national TV shows. ANDY made his TV debut of“Miss Me” on CBS’ “The Talk” on July 26 followed by an August 21 performance of the track on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” Andy also sat down with“CBS This Morning” on August 17 to chat about his remarkable career rise from humble beginnings of performing on the streets in Santa Monica, CA to selling well over one-million tracks, performing onstage with Taylor Swift, appearing on an array of national TV shows and selling out venues nationwide. He has performed twice on NBC’s “Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “Rachael Ray Show,” “Live with Regis & Kelly,” “CBS Early Show,” “Fox and Friends” and VH1’s “Big Morning Buzz Live.” ANDY also appeared on the cover of the national touring trade magazine Pollstar in August, and his hit song “Keep Your Head Up” is currently featured in the motion picture Pitch Perfect, starring Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow and Rebel Wilson, which has already grossed over $36 million.
