ATTRACTIONS AND ACTIVITIES ANNOUNCED FOR
VANS WARPED TOUR® 2006 PRESENTED BY CINGULAR WIRELESS
As the June 15 launch of this summer’s VANS WARPED TOUR® 2006 Presented by Cingular Wireless approaches, new and returning attractions, activities and tour sponsors have been announced. Please go to www.warpedtour.com for the full list of tour dates and bands performing in each city.
Cingular Wireless Delivers Big Warped Perks: Cingular Wireless will host the following exclusives for VWT fans:
“Skip the Line” Gate: Look for the “SKIP THE LINE” banner, flash your phone with Cingular service, and go straight into the concert without having to wait in line.
Special Updates and Promotions via Text Message: One of the unique aspects of the VWT is the rotating performance schedule and daily activities. To help fans get the most bang for their buck, Cingular will provide band line-ups and autograph session schedules, via special text messages. To opt-in, concert-goers can simply sign up for their particular city at www.warpedtour.com, www.cingularsource.com or receive the text code once at the concert venue.
Cingular Signing Stage: Back by popular demand, fans can meet their favorite bands and get autographs on limited edition VWT credentials and posters designed by renowned rock-poster artist Brian Ewing. Participating bands will be announced soon.
Ink Your Phone Booth: Cingular created the Ink Your Phone Booth where tattoo artists will personalize fans’ phones with an array of designs.
Reverse Daycare Tent: Since parents and their teens don’t always have the same taste in music, concert-goers can drop off their parents at the air-conditioned Reverse Daycare Tent. While teens are rocking out to their favorite bands, parents can enjoy a cold beverage, a massage and a movie with the help of soundproof headphones.
MySpace Tent and Tour Activities:
MySpace Tent: The MySpace tent is 30’ x 30’ foot space, set-up as a lounge and featuring a small stage. MySpace encourages emerging artists on the Warped Tour to utilize the space just as they use the site: as a way to connect with fans. In addition to the MySpace featured artist, every day MySpace hosts multiple meet & greets and impromptu performances from various tour artists.
MyWarpedSpace: MyWarpedSpace is a ten-week online promotion on the MySpace music home page; the site maintains MyWarpedSpace with rotating “featured artists” from each week on the tour.
MySpace Featured Artist: Each week of the tour (eight total weeks) the featured artist from MyWarpedSpace makes an appearance in the MySpace tent at Warped Tour. Appearances are both meet & greets with fans and acoustic sets.
The MySpace House Band (band TBD), performing short sets throughout the day of both original and cover songs. Attendees are encouraged to “sing along,” creating live punk karaoke in the MySpace tent.
Raffles and Giveaways: MySpace hosts multiple raffles throughout the day with prizes including MySpace gear, side-stage viewing for the band of the winner’s choice and passes to the after-show BBQ.
Fuse: Fuse is fully Warped this summer starting with "Warped Wednesdays." Every Wednesday, all summer long between 11:00 AM and 8:00 PM (ET), Fuse will feature the hottest bands on the tour, hosting hours of music videos and sharing Warped road stories. "Warped Weekends" will feature encore presentations of all shows on July 7, 8, 9, 22, 23 and August 5 and 6. Additionally there will be Warped-related programming on "Steven's Untitled Rock Show," "Daily Download," "F-List,” and “Tattoo Stories.” Watch Warped Wednesday’s! PlayStation: PlayStation® is on the road for the 12th consecutive year with the Vans Warped Tour®. This year, tour-goers can sample the latest software titles for the PSP™ (PlayStation® Portable) system including Pursuit Force and Lemmings as well as MLB 06: The Show and Tourist Trophy for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system. And, choose your melodic weapon…Rhythm, Lead, or Bass guitar, because only at the PlayStation tent will you be able to play Guitar Hero!
Major League Baseball: The MLB Authentic Collection and the "Access To The Show" program featuring the MLB Road Show are proud to once again be a part of this year's Vans Warped Tour®. The MLB Road Show is a high-tech tractor-trailer that's completely outfitted to give fans a chance to have an all-encompassing baseball experience. The truck includes displays featuring the MLB Authentic Collection line of apparel and headwear, pitching and batting cages, kiosks featuring the video game title MLB 06 The Show by Sony PlayStation, and Internet kiosks where concert-goers can purchase MLB licensed products directly through the Shop section of MLB.com, the official Web site of Major League Baseball. At each stop Warped bands will hit and pitch in the cages, mingle with fans and share their mutual love of the game! Champs Sports will serve as the official retail destination for "Access To The Show" and the MLB Authentic Collection throughout the tour. It will also offer concert-goers special promotions including an opportunity to see a World Series game with the band Senses Fail through its 600 US based stores.
Amateur Mini-Ramp Skate Jam: 2006 marks the second annual Amateur Mini-Ramp Skate Jam, presented by Vans, Lost Energy and Eastpak®. This contest will be featured at each stop on the Vans Warped Tour®. Cash Prizes will be awarded daily as 20 to 25 local “hot” pre-qualified skaters shred the mini-ramp for fun and money. All Girl Skate Jam is the first and only skateboarding competition that is for all girls, all ages and all abilities. At all 50 stops AGSJ will be running girls skateboarding clinics teaching girls of all ages and abilities how to skate and showcasing the book, Skater Girl : A Girl's Guide to Skateboarding along with the coolest free girls skateboarding SWAG at the AGSJ interactive booth. Energizer® e2™ Titanium Encore: At each tour stop, one band will be chosen to play 10 minutes longer that day. Each band will be selected in advance through voting held on the “Contests” section of www.warpedtour.com.
truth®: truth® is once again hitting the road this summer to reach out to thousands of teens with life-saving messages about tobacco use.. truth® travels with signature orange state-of-the-art truth® trucks rigged with DJ decks, video monitors and gaming systems. The truth® crew will provide anti-tobacco messages in cool settings, engaging in peer-to-peer communication. Each stop will feature impromptu rap sessions, join-in free-style demos and giveaways of popular truth® gear such as hats, bags, and exclusive t-shirts designed by some of today’s most popular artists and graphic designers. Scratch lessons will be available through the Scratch DJ Academy, a group of DJs who show newcomers the fundamentals of DJ’ing, scratching and mixing music.
Download Punk (the official provider of digital downloads for the tour’s emerging artists): Fans can head to the store front to find digital releases from the up and coming artists as well as check out the artists playing the Hot Topic Kevin Says and Ernie Ball stages, keep up on news from the tour, download free tracks, buy exclusive tracks and sample songs from full albums before purchase. Downloadpunk.com is an online music retailer geared specifically towards serving the punk community with digital downloads. They carry the deepest punk, hardcore, emo, metal and indie catalogs. Rhapsody Vans Warped Tour Bootleg Series 2006: Fans can once again catch some of the tour’s hottest performances online with the Vans Warped Tour® Bootleg Series, available exclusively via the Rhapsody music service. Throughout the summer, live sets will be recorded at select locations and offered for download and streaming in Rhapsody. Warped fans can also check the sets out for free with Rhapsody.com. In addition, SanDisk will be showing off its latest e200 mp3 player along with Rhapsody at select tour dates throughout the summer. TJ Martell Foundation Charity Ticket Auction: The T.J. Martell Foundation, in conjunction with The 2006 Vans Warped Tour, is proud to announce the Third Annual Charity Ticket Auction for Leukemia, Cancer and Aids Research. Beginning April 17th, and running for five consecutive weeks, fans can bid on eBay for a once-in-a-lifetime chance to receive two tickets to the tour and the opportunity to watch their favorite band perform from the stage. Girlz Garage: The 2006 Girlz Garage is bigger and better than ever. The Shoe Gallery has returned where personalized Vans–each individually designed by Warped bands–are auctioned off for charity at www.warpedtour.com. In The Chop Shop, fans can use spray paint, scissors, needles and thread to turn your boring shirt into a DIY fashion find. Proceeds made in the Chop Shop will go to 1-800-Suicide and other teen suicide hotlines.
Take Action! At Warped: In an effort to "create a better world, one voice and one action at a time,” Take Action! has teamed with the Vans Warped Tour to once again present the Take Action! stage. In addition to spreading the Take Action! message of personal empowerment, Take Action! is once again teaming up with our benefiting charity, The National Hopeline Network 1-800-SUICIDE (nationwide hotline that provides 24 hour, confidential attentive help for people in a crisis highlighted by and often leading to suicide, depression, drug abuse, domestic abuse, etc.). This year’s Take Action! area features a variety of support and community outreach for non-profits that feature literature, outspoken bands, petitions, voter registration etc. Take Action is more prominent than last year and you can expect to meet and greet with some of your favorite bands that support the cause within this area.
MLB Authentic Collection/Vagrant Stage: Major League Baseball and Vagrant Records have partnered for this summer’s tour. The MLB Authentic Collection/Vagrant stage will feature performances from Vagrant artists: Down to Earth Approach, Emanuel, The Bled, From Autumn to Ashes, Moneen, Protest the Hero and Reggie and the Full Effect. Saves the Day and Senses Fail will also perform acoustically on the MLB Authentic Collection/Vagrant stage in addition to their mainstage performances the same day.
Hurley Stage: This is the second largest stage on the tour and features bands such as From First to Last, Every Time I Die, Silverstein, The Academy Is…, Armor for Sleep, Hellogoodbye, ZOX, Greenly Estates, The Early November, 18 Visions, Billy Talent and others.
Hot Topic Kevin Says Stage: This stage features a wide variety of undiscovered, up-and-coming, and prominent bands from underground and independent music scenes around the world. The stage was booked through an application process in which bands were picked for their work ethic, talent, and uniqueness. Ranging from punk to ska, from hip hop to hardcore, the Hot Topic/Kevin Says Stage has become a hot spot for discovering new music on the tour this year. This is the second year Hot Topic has been the Presenting Sponsor of the Kevin Says Stage.
Ernie Ball Stage: In its 10th year, the Ernie Ball Battle Of The Bands offers bands from across the country an opportunity to compete for various prizes such as: spots on the Ernie Ball stage, gear and instruments, as well as recording contracts. Last year, Ernie Ball had over 10,000 bands submit to play the Ernie Ball Stage.
Smartpunk Stage: Smartpunk.com proudly presents the SMARTPUNK STAGE at the Vans Warped Tour 2006. This is our 3rd year on the nation’s biggest punk rock summer tour and we're excited to once again take part in promoting and bringing great music out on the road. As an online music retailer, the Smartpunk.com stage represents what we and our customers feel are the best up and coming bands out there. The same stage that helped launch the careers of bands like Underoath, From First To Last and Saosin, will feature this year’s stand-out hopefuls such as Chiodos, He Is Legend, As Cities Burn and The Fully Down. Guitar Center: Touring is hard work. Staying in contact with the outside world, while out on the road day after day can be even harder. That’s why Guitar Center has created the GUITAR CENTER WEB LAB. The Guitar Center Web Lab, a custom 32‚ climate controlled internet trailer, will provide bands, their crew and warped tour staff exclusive access to a backstage wireless media center. Complete with top of the line Apple computers, design based software and a knowledgeable rep, Guitar Center’s mission is to provide Warped Tour artists, bands and crew with the tools they need to maintain their online world.
Locker Box: An avid VANS WARPED TOUR fan arranged this much-needed VWT Locker Check-In area. It allows concert-goers the chance to collect items and merchandise and then check it in when it's too much to carry. Coats, backpacks, bags, cell phones, shirts, hats, pants and shoes are all welcome.
