This Friday night, tune in to “AUDIENCE MUSIC: Spotlight”–the new monthly music series from AUDIENCE Network which exclusively showcases emerging, unsigned music artists with their first national broadcast performance and digital exposure–for two fresh episodes from ‘Armstrong Leigh” (8:00 p.m) and ‘Oh, Whitney’ (8:30 p.m.) on AUDIENCE Network (DIRECTV Ch 239/U-verse Ch 1114). Both episodes were taped live on location this past March in Austin, TX from AUDIENCE Network’s exclusive ‘Live From Austin’ rooftop stage.
Less than two years after joining forces, the Austin, TX-based power duo Armstrong Leigh has won over audiences with appearances across Texas and beyond. With Michelle Armstrong’s robust yet sensual vocals, Cristopher Leigh’s signature guitar hooks and their shared affinity for lyrically-led, melodic pop-rock, Armstrong Leigh draws listeners in to become a part of their music. Years prior to joining forces, Cristopher and Michelle shared the stage in their previous Austin bands–Electric Touch (Island Records) and Dame (Playing In Traffic Records), respectively–but it wasn’t until one fateful Bruce Springsteen concert, in LA, that the two would reconnect and collaborate. Recently, Armstrong Leigh was the opening band for hit-maker Vance Joy on his first American tour, Electric Forest Festival, and opened for Albert Hammond Jr. (The Strokes), Ringo Deathstarr, and others.

Oh Whitney is a rock band that has called several places home since its first incarnation in Brooklyn, NY, in 2011. They cut their teeth performing in and around NYC, while also playing down the East Coast and into central Mexico, where they began working with drummer Rick Shlosser (of Van Morrison, James Taylor, Etta James, among others). After recording their debut album “Oh Whitney” in Queretaro, Mexico, they relocated to Fort Worth, TX, touring in support of the new record.The group spent the majority of the last couple years recording and playing outside of the United States, predominantly in central Mexico and Bahia, Brazil. Oh Whitney is currently settling into their new home base of Austin, TX, while finishing their forthcoming album produced by Donald Fagen (of Steely Dan) set for release later this year.
