“The five-piece band combines the past and future flawlessly on its sophomore full-length, WAKING THE FALLEN.”
–Bram Teitelman, Billboard, January 10, 2004
Coming off a strong year including critical acclaim, multiple high profile tours and an incredible buzz resulting in the signing to major label Warner Brothers Records, AVENGED SEVENFOLD will head overseas for a U.K. tour with Lostprophets beginning February 7. This tour comes as a result of unrelenting demand from UK fans, press and promoters. After Lostprophets invited AVENGED SEVENFOLD to join them on tour, headlining A7X tour dates were also added at the request of major UK promoters.
The band–whose current album WAKING THE FALLEN on indie Hopeless Records has already sold over 40,000 copies in just over five months since its release–will launch a headlining U.S. tour in March and join the second half of the Vans Warped Tour this summer. The band’s upcoming U.S. tour follows consistently sold-out headlining dates. Meanwhile, a video for AVENGED SEVENFOLD’s fierce and sprawling single “Unholy Confessions” will be shot at the band’s headlining show at Los Angeles’ Henry Fonda Theatre March 6.
Recorded in Los Angeles with producer Mudrock, WAKING THE FALLEN debuted at #12 on Billboard’s Independent Album chart, spending eight weeks there, and hit #15 on the Heatseekers chart. The album is an amalgam of the band’s metal, punk, hardcore and gothic influences, filled with startling melodic flights and vocal swirls. CMJ describes WAKING THE FALLEN as “hard-and-heavy eclecticism…a volatile fusion of punk melody and metal intensity…Combining unpredictable rhythm shifts, melodic hurricanes and abrupt vocal turns…(November 2003).”
With diverse influences ranging from Bad Religion to Metallica and Iron Maiden to NOFX, AVENGED SEVENFOLD—M. SHADOWS (vocals), ZACKY VENGEANCE (guitar), SYNYSTER GATES (guitar), THE REVEREND (drums) and JOHNNY CHRIST (bass)–have thrown away the rulebook with their boundary-blurring mix of punk and metal. A7X creates punk rock with melody, metal’s white-knuckle intensity and powerful wails combined with unflinching lyrics and an adventurous, epic spirit.
