"I WANT IT THAT WAY" VIDEO PREMIERE GETS THINGS STARTED MAY 5
WITH LOTS OF TELEVISION AND PRINT COVERAGE TO FOLLOW
Having already scored a hit and made history with the release of "I Want It That Way"–the album's first single which generated 164 adds in the CHR (Top 40) and Rhythm Crossover formats its first day at radio, according to the record trade publication Radio & Records–the band will get things started on Wednesday, May 5 with the MTV world premiere of the video for "I Want It That Way." The Wayne Isham-lensed clip was recently shot at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
BACKSTREET BOYS–NICK CARTER, HOWIE DOROUGH, BRIAN LITTRELL, A.J. McLEAN and KEVIN RICHARDSON–will also take over the MTV airwaves with a variety of performances and appearances over the course of three days closer to the album release. First up on Saturday, May 15, MTV will re-broadcast last year's "Backstreet Boys' Favorite Videos" countdown special followed by the premiere of "Fanatic" (their second showing on this program). Next, MTV will be transformed into "Backstreet Boys Live" on Sunday, May 16, with live interviews and performances of songs from the album that will air direct from the MTV studios in the heart of Times Square in New York City. It'll wrap up on Tuesday, May 18, first with an appearance on the Sony Jumbotron in Times Square, where they'll be hosting a special record release party for their fans, broadcasting videos from their last album as well as "I Want It That Way." The band will then head directly to the MTV studios for an appearance on "Total Request Live" followed by their very own "Backstreet Boys TV" half-hour special.
And that's not all…the group will also be making TV appearances on Saturday Night Live (Saturday, May 15 with host Sarah Michelle Gellar), All That (Sunday, May 16 on Nickelodeon), The Rosie O'Donnell Show (Thursday, May 20), Teen People's "Hottest Stars Under 21" special (Friday, May 21), and The Tonight Show With Jay Leno (Monday, May 24).
