BACKSTREET BOYS:
WORLD DOMINATION CONTINUES WITH MULTIPLE WINS AT WORLD MUSIC AWARDS
What's next for the group who were recently awarded four World Music Awards, are featured on the cover of the summer music issue of TEEN PEOPLE and just released the fourth single from their 30 million-selling MILLENNIUM album? A new BACKSTREET BOYS album, projected for release in October.
The BACKSTREET BOYS–NICK CARTER, HOWIE DOROUGH, BRIAN LITTRELL, AJ McLEAN and KEVIN RICHARDSON–spent the early part of May in a Bahamas recording studio preparing songs for their forthcoming album. As A.J. told TEEN PEOPLE in advance of the journey, "We're going to take a trip to an island for a few weeks, just us five and studio engineers. We're trying to go a little more edgy, but that doesn't mean we're going to totally change our style." Brian added, "The chemistry and feel of the previous albums will be the same, just a little older. And productionwise, we're looking for a natural, raw feel, where everything isn't perfect."
Before everyone got together for the recording sessions, BACKSTREET BOYS' HOWIE DOROUGH and A.J. MCLEAN represented the group in Monaco at the World Music Awards as the big winners of the night, picking up trophies for: Best Selling Pop Group, Best Selling R&B Group, Best Selling Dance Group, and Best American Group.
As evidence that the group will be even more involved with the creative process, the new and fourth single from MILLENNIUM–"The One"–was co-written by BRIAN, while the video for the song was co-directed by KEVIN. The clip features live performance and behind the scenes footage of the group shot along their sold-out and critically acclaimed "Into The Millennium Tour" (115 shows in 84 cities). In a review, BILLBOARD describes "The One" as "Another massive hit for the Backstreet Boys with this unquestionably sunshine-splashed instant smash hit…with a message of steadfast support and empowerment from the boys."
