AND ENDS AT ELECTRIC FOREST FESTIVAL

BALKAN BEAT BOX continue their worldwide journey of sharing their distinctive, ethno-electro beats with an important social and political message. The Israel/New York-based trio released their most musically intense and lyrically conscious album to date, GIVE (Nat Geo Music), earlier this year and are now in the midst of a global tour, currently running throughout Europe. BALKAN BEAT BOX has just announced additional North American tour dates, kicking off with a performance at Wakarusa Music Festival and ending at Electric Forest Festival (see full list of dates below).
BALKAN BEAT BOX—TOMER YOSEF (Vocals, Percussion, Synthesizers, Guitar), TAMIR MUSKAT (Programming, Drums & Percussion, Synthesizers, Tape Machines, Backing Vocals) and ORI KAPLAN (Saxophones, Winds, Synthesizers, Backing Vocals)–has earned a worldwide reputation as an “exotic, eclectic and politically sensitive” group (Rolling Stone South Africa online, 12/6/11) that never disappoints live and with nearly 100,000 Facebook fans, their fan community continues growing exponentially. The last U.S. leg drew impressive crowds with over 1,000 music lovers making it to their NYC show at Irving Plaza. The tour went out with a bang with a sweaty, high-energy SXSW performance on the final night of the music festival (Sat. 3/17) in front of a shoulder-to-shoulder packed house.
Brimming over with handcrafted beats and samples, GIVE is BALKAN BEAT BOX’s most textured sonic palette of their career. “This is our most hardcore album so far,” says MUSKAT. “Definitely musically – there’s more of a harder-edged, electronic sound. The songs and their subjects are also kind of darker and more political.” The album includes such songs as “Political F*ck,” “Urge To Be Violent,” “Enemy In Economy” and “No Man’s Land.”
GIVE’s first single “Part Of The Glory” is a meditation on the role of social media and YouTube. The video, which was filmed in Tel Aviv, Israel and features locals in their day-to-day lives, dancing, playing and exercising, has been viewed over 315,000 times.
