This year’s STREET SCENE line-up will include 40 internationally known entertainers from around the world performing on five different stages throughout the venue site and more. Other recently announced line-up additions include The Faint, Nortec Collective (Bostich + Fussible), Dungen, Busta Rhymes, Cage the Elephant and Ted Leo & the Pharmacists.
Beyond general admission ticket prices, STREET SCENE is pleased to announce a new layaway program for two-day passes priced at $122.00 + service fees. STREET SCENE's layaway program allows you to pay for your two-day passes in two installments. The initial payment of $61.00 (plus ticket fees and any associated shipping costs) is due at the time of purchase. Then, the second and final payment of $61.00 will automatically be charged to the credit card on Thursday, August 6, 2009. In addition, STREET SCENE’s exclusive VIP packages–presented by 944–are available for just $250 a ticket. Meanwhile, the previously announced initial line-up for this year’s STREET SCENE includes the Black Eyed Peas, M.I.A., Thievery Corporation, Modest Mouse, The Dead Weather, Cake, Silversun Pickups, Conor Oberst & The Mystic Valley Band, Band of Horses, Girl Talk, Chromeo, Mastodon, Ozomatli, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Devendra Banhart, Bassnectar, Shooter Jennings, No Age, Calexico, West Indian Girl, Ra Ra Riot, Deerhunter, Donald Glaude, Matt and Kim, Los Campesinos, Grand Ole Party, LA Riots, Anya Marina, Holy F**k, Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears, Blue Scholars, Crocodiles, Wavves, Zee Avi, Extra Golden, and Carney.
STREET SCENE was launched in 1984 with two versions of the event (one in May, the other in August). It was originally set in a one-block area of downtown San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter (on 5th Avenue between J & K Streets), and the event’s first-year performers included Los Lobos and The Blasters in May, with X, Robert Cray, and the Neville Brothers in August.
