BOWIE CRUSH: It was truly a who's who of '60s, '70s, '80s and '90s rock when DAVID BOWIE performed a sold-out show at the Astoria in London recently as part of his small-venue shows throughout Europe in connection with his critically hailed hours… album (Virgin). In attendance at the 1600 capacity venue and at the crowded confines of the after-show party at Pop were: Joseph Fiennes, Boy George, Daryl Hall, Mick Jagger, Jerry Hall, Jimmy Page, Pet Shop Boy Neil Tennant, Pete Townshend, Mel G and Fatboy Slim plus members of the Cure, Nine Inch Nails, Queen, Massive Attack, M People and Skunk Anansie. Meantime, GQ magazine in America has picked hours… as one of the top albums of 1999, with Jim Nelson noting: "Melancholy has never been so upbeat." Next up for BOWIE: the January 2000 release of "Survive," one of the key tracks from hours…. Fans should be on the lookout for the video directed by Walter Stern that was recently shot in London.
