COUNT THE STARS
SET TO RELEASE DEBUT CD ‘NEVER BE TAKEN ALIVE’
FEBRUARY 25 ON VICTORY RECORDS;
BAND CONFIRMED FOR TOURS WITH SUCH ARTISTS AS MADCAP, AMERICAN HI-FI, VOODOO GLOW SKULLS AND TAKING BACK SUNDAY;
AS WELL AS VANS WARPED TOUR DATES
COUNT THE STARS—CHRIS KASARJIAN (vocals/guitar), DAVE SHAPIRO (drums), ADAM MANNING (guitar) and CLARKE FOLEY (bass)–are set to release their debut album NEVER BE TAKEN ALIVE February 25 on Victory Records.
Building on their non-stop touring with such bands as Dashboard Confessional, Thursday, Midtown and Sugarcult, Albany, New York’s COUNT THE STARS will launch a three-week trek with Madcap beginning January 24 in Milwaukee. These dates will be followed by separate tours with Atom And His Package and American Hi-Fi; a hometown record release show March 1; dates with Voodoo Glow Skulls; and then a spring trek with Taking Back Sunday in April. In addition, the band will appear on 14 dates of this summer’s Vans Warped Tour.
NEVER BE TAKEN ALIVE–produced by Dave Cobb at Atlanta’s Tree Studios–mixes elements of emo, punk and hardcore as it explores the freewheeling life on the road, delving into failed relationships with bittersweet lyrics that show mature insight for a debut album. Standout tracks include the first single “Taking It All Back” (now available for download on www.victoryrecords.com), the power-punk-fueled “Right Behind Me” and the aggressive rock anthem “Brand New Skin.”
COUNT THE STARS formed in 1995 when SHAPIRO and KASARJIAN were only 12 years old. After the current line-up was completed in 2001, the band sold 5,000 copies of their demo CD using guerrilla marketing and the Internet; they made personal calls to their mailing list, sold CDs directly to fans at malls and colleges and booked themselves on a six-month national tour.
