COUNTERPOINT MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL organizers have announced a Thursday, April 24 pre-fest celebration in advance of the three-day Georgia festival, Friday, April 25-Sunday, April 27, at its new location, the beautiful Kingston Downs (less than an hour from downtown Atlanta). The 2014 CounterPoint Music & Arts Festival will include performances from more than 75 acts including Outkast (in their first confirmed hometown performance), Pretty Lights, Foster The People, STS9, J. Cole, Major Lazer, Krewella and Big Gigantic on four performance spaces.
Beyond the benefits of arriving to the venue with less traffic and getting a prime camping spot, the Thursday night pre-party will include music (Starslinger; Ex-Mag; Modern Measure and The Mad Violinist – DJ Set); BBQ (from local favorite, award-winning Johnny Mitchell’s Smokehouse), bonfires and beer provided by Heineken.
Many of the pre-festival activities will be extended throughout the CounterPoint weekend. Daily highlights on the multi-purpose “local stage” in the midway include morning yoga (10:00-11:00 AM, with other sessions to be announced) with renowned yogi Nick Atlas who will lead the group as they embark on a mind and body journey; mid-day daily performances highlighting local talent; The Silent Disco returns with some of your favorite national and local DJs battling late night at the festival. Other CounterPoint activities include workshops (morning meditation, sound meditation healing and monkey chants); hooping demonstrations and creative hoop expressions; gaming (Bocce, Cornhole and giant Jenga, among others); a Human Steeplechase Race; contests: daily costume competitions and a “Pimp your Campsite” challenge, both of which will be judged by CounterPoint contributing artists, with prizes awarded; carnival games and rides.
All ticketholders and campers will have the option to purchase a $20 pass that will allow access to the Thursday pre-festival festivities; each will also include a voucher for dinner from Johnny Mitchell’s Smokehouse (or another vendor in the midway). This year, CounterPoint will debut its new 5000-acre site featuring gorgeous campgrounds, the Georgia Eats Food Court, bars throughout the festival site (including the Point Draught House, presented by Bell’s Brewery. Located next to the Underground stage, the Point is where you can find all of the festival’s craft beer. Bell’s Brewery is bringing a variety of their beers for concert-goers to enjoy, including Oberon and Two Hearted), the CounterPoint Cares Non Profit Center, carnival rides, the CounterPoint Arts Village, the official CounterPoint Merch Store, the CounterPoint Game Point, FREE water stations, and plenty of areas to relax and get shade. In addition, daily shuttle service will be available from Atlanta (and other locations throughout the area), prices begin at $50.
Remaining three-day weekend tickets starting at $180 will be available for limited time before the price increases; a variety of ticket and weekend packages are available for CounterPoint 2014, including 3-Day GA Tickets, 3 levels of VIP Packages, Luxury Camping Options (Glamping), Travel Packages (inclusive of lodging and day-to-day transport to and from the festival site) and parking passes.
