DAVE STEWART
SET TO PERFORM ON “LATE NIGHT WITH JIMMY FALLON”
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 2
IN CONNECTION WITH NEW SOLO ALBUM
‘THE BLACKBIRD DIARIES’
Look for DAVE STEWART to appear Wednesday, November 2 on NBC-TV’s “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon,” performing with the Roots a song from his acclaimed new solo album THE BLACKBIRD DIARIES (Razor & Tie/Weapons of Mass Entertainment/ Surfdog).
USA Today’s Edna Gundersen hailed the British singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer’s disc as “a warm and nostalgic valentine to American roots music” (8/22/2011), while Rolling Stone’s Anthony DeCurtis said the album “offers a rawer portrait of Dave Stewart–the producer, former Eurthymic and current member of Superheavy, with Mick Jagger–than you’re likely ever to have heard. The nasty, lurching guitar that announces ‘So Long Ago,’ the album’s opener, is the tip-off. The song name-checks blues greats Junior Kimbrough, R.L. Burnside and Mississippi John Hurt, and signals the roots rock-arama that follows” (9/14/2011).
THE BLACKBIRD DIARIES–his first album of new material in over a decade and recorded in Nashville–is filled with tenacious rock steeped in Americana and blues riffs with his most personal, story-driven lyrics to date. It features a co-write with Bob Dylan (“Worth The Waiting For”) as well as duets with Stevie Nicks, Martina McBride, Colbie Caillat, and the Secret Sisters. IFC.COM recently premiered the video for the single “One Way Ticket To The Moon.” Filmed in an old NASA building, it was conceived/directed by STEWART and features The Secret Sisters. In other DAVE STEWART news, he wrote, with Glen Ballard, a brand new, original score for “Ghost The Musical.” The smash musical–based on the movie—opened in London’s West End at the Piccadilly Theatre on July 19, 2011, earning four-star reviews from an array of media outlets including The London Times, Time Out and the Daily Telegraph. It will open on Broadway Monday, April 23, 2012 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theater, with preview performances to begin in March.

About DAVE STEWART:
Described by Bob Dylan as a “fearless innovator,” Dave Stewart is a musician, music producer, author, entrepreneur, filmmaker and philanthropist. The British artist’s music career alone spans three decades and more than 100 million album sales, highlighted by his collaboration with Annie Lennox in the groundbreaking pop-rock group Eurythmics (“Sweet Dreams [Are Made of This],”“Would I Lie to You?” and dozens more). Behind the scenes, he’s produced albums and co-written songs for Stevie Nicks, Tom Petty, Bono, Sinead O’Connor, Mick Jagger, Katy Perry, Jon Bon Jovi and a host of others, racking up numerous Producer, Songwriter and Grammy Awards along the way. In 2011, he released a solo album The Blackbird Diaries, as well as the self-titled debut album by Super Heavy, a new band he created along with Mick Jagger, Joss Stone, Damian Marley and A.R. Rahman. Also in 2011, he co-produced and co-wrote the Joss Stone album LP1 and the Stevie Nicks album In Your Dreams. With Glen Ballard, Stewart wrote songs for the musical “Ghost” (based on the movie), which opened in London in 2011, and will premiere on Broadway in 2012. Stewart’s work outside of the music world is just as impressive. He has written two comic books (one of which, Zombie Broadway, is being developed into a full length feature film); directed a number of short films and movies (including 2000’s Honest, which debuted at Cannes); produced an award-winning documentary that reflected his early musical passions (1991’s Deep Blues: A Musical Pilgrimage to the Crossroads); and created the television series, Malibu Country, starring Reba McEntire which was recently acquired by ABC. As an entrepreneur, Stewart founded a multimedia creative hub along with Paul Allen called “The Hospital”; developed his own media company (Weapons of Mass Entertainment); and participated in a number of philanthropic and non-profit projects, from Greenpeace to Stand Up to Cancer. As a philanthropist, Stewart also worked personally with Nelson Mandela and helped launch his 46664 campaign using his innovative thinking.
