COMPLETES SUCCESSFUL RECORD-BREAKING RUN AT
ROSELAND BALLROOM IN NEW YORK CITY WITH SIX NIGHTS OCTOBER 4-9
LEADING ELECTRONIC MUSIC PRODUCER AWARDED FOR GOLD STATUS SALES OF
“GHOSTS N STUFF”
LIVE MUSIC’S MOST ELECTRIFYING ACT SET FOR FIRST-EVER
BASEBALL STADIUM SHOW OCTOBER 28 AT PETCO PARK IN SAN DIEGO
World-renowned producer/performer and one of the music world’s most electrifying live acts, deadmau5 just completed an unprecedented six consecutive night concert run October 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 & 9—five of which were sold out—at New York City’s legendary Roseland Ballroom as part of his Meowingtons Hax tour. Rage Against the Machine held the previous honor with five consecutive plays at Roseland in the summer of 1996.
On Tuesday, October 4 at the top of the Roseland run, the major electronic music producer was presented with a plaque from Live Nation’s Senior Vice President Jason Miller marking the engagement. deadmau5 was also presented with an RIAA-certified plaque commemorating gold status sales of his single “Ghosts N Stuff” featuring Rob Swire—from his 2009 release For Lack of a Better Name—by Ultra Music President Patrick Moxey, General Manager David Waxman and Sr. Director of Marketing Jessica Risling-Sholl. He was also honored with a cake by Cousin Anthony from TLC’s “Cake Boss,” created by the crew at Carlo’s Bakery. It represented deadmau5‘s iconic mau5head and around the base was the NYC skyline, topped off by the Roseland Ballroom marquee and lights embedded in the head.
In other exciting news, deadmau5 will headline his first baseball stadium show at PETCO Park in San Diego October 28. The show—previously set for October 26 at SOMA—also features sets from Tommy Lee & Aero and Feed Me with SOFI, along with special guest Sweden’s Avicii for his only appearance on the tour.
Meanwhile, deadmau5 caused a stir with the New York media:
“This Canadian dance producer concludes his six-night residency at Roseland with all of his trademark enticements: excellently deep progressive house and neo-trance music, staggering digital stage graphics and a terrifyingly oversized mouse head that he will wear determinedly through the night.”
—Stacey Anderson, New York Times preview (10/6/11)
“Think of Joel Zimmerman as a modern-day Superman or, maybe, a musical Mighty Mouse. He’s a thin, mild-mannered, 30-year-old Canadian until he dons his trademark helmet and becomes deadmau5, the brilliant underground electronic musician who’s elevated the style with whirling, intricate compositions.”
—Dan Aquilante, New York Post preview (10/1/11)
“If there are disciplines in which it’s unadvisable to work behind a mask that evokes a creepy video-game character with giant mouse ears, “club-music DJ” is not one of them. As deadmau5 (that’s “deadmouse” for those not into cryptograms), Canadian Joel Zimmerman has become a major star in a global dance-music network that finds itself intrigued, increasingly, by what is going on in the wilds of North America. It’s a change of inflection for a culture that has identified as European since the dawn of rave, but the sound itself remains, as ever, less than concerned about geography. In the case of deadmau5, the sound is big and gleaming, muscular in places and mechanical in others—and all of it fit for spells of dancing or just jumping around when the big beat drops, as it often does.”
—Andy Battaglia Wall Street Journal preview (10/5/11)
“deadmau5, the electronic-house producer (known to his pals as Joel Zimmerman) with a certain fondness for rodentia-referencing headgear, kicked off his six-night run at Roseland Ballroom on Tuesday, October 4 with a bang, packing the massive venue with rabid fans—not to mention a mind-melting array flashing lights and sonic boom.”

“Tuesday night Joel Zimmerman, a.k.a. deadmau5, kicked off a record-breaking, six-night run at New York’s Roseland Ballroom for his Meowington’s Hax tour, breaking the venue’s five-night record previously set by Rage Against the Machine….Hitting the stage around 11 p.m. and playing until just after 1, the show gave everyone in day-glo “mau5” ears, “copymau5” helmets and neon attire plenty of reasons to dance.”

“Between the synchronized lighting and the unreal sound system that Roseland Ballroom had to offer the … stop in NYC was unreal. He played all his tracks with slight remixes to some extent. Of course everyone went nuts as he dropped ‘Ghosts N Stuff.’ Even though the venue was packed out to max capacity it was enjoyable no matter where you were watching. The Meowingtons Hax was most definitely a plus.”
—Gradientmagazine.com review (10/9/11)
Named after his cat Professor Meowingtons, deadmau5’s Meowingtons Hax 40-plus date tour debuted at Lollapalooza in Chicago this past August where SPIN.COM hailed it as the #1 set at the festival. The show features incredible production—a spectacle of lights and LED (check out a clip from Lolla here: http://vimeo.com/27430969) which compliments deadmau5’s live repertoire of hits, classic cuts and brand new music. deadmau5 also helmed headliner slots at Outside Lands and the Virgin Mobile FreeFest, as well as sold-out four consecutive shows at the legendary Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles.
