DEPECHE MODE ANNOUNCE THE U.S. VENUES
THEY'LL VISIT ON THEIR UPCOMING 'EXCITER TOUR';
OVERSEAS DATES SELLING OUT FAST;
"DREAM ON" IS THE MOST ADDED SINGLE
AT MODERN ROCK RADIO
With the May 15 release of their new album EXCITER closing in, DEPECHE MODE today announce the North American venues they'll be visiting on their massive worldwide "EXCITER TOUR." Beginning in the U.S. June 19 in Minneapolis at the XCEL Energy Center, "Exciter Tour" will visit 33 North American cities as part of the band's first tour since 1998's triumphant "The Singles" tour. The American dates are being presented by MTV2.
Meanwhile, "Exciter Tour" is enjoying huge momentum overseas where tickets are selling fast. In Germany, DEPECHE MODE–DAVE GAHAN, MARTIN GORE and ANDREW FLETCHER–have already sold out two-night stands in Berlin (20,000 each night), Cologne (18,000 each night) and Munich (17,000 each night) in addition to sold-out evenings at Hamburg's Trabrenbahn stadium (over 50,000) and Leipzig's Festwiese stadium (over 60,000). At the same time, the October 17 Wembley show in London sold out immediately, resulting in the addition of a second night on October 18.
In other news, "Dream On"–the first single from Exciter (Mute/Reprise) that contrasts skittering beats with acoustic guitars–was the #1 most added song at modern rock radio in its debut week. At the same time, MTV2 and VH1 have added the new Stephane Sednaoui-directed "Dream On" video. The mysterious video follows DEPECHE MODE traveling in a classic black Lincoln Continental through the California desert while a mysterious atmosphere unfolds around them.
