Detroit band THE HOUNDS BELOW—founded by The Von Bondies frontman Jason Stollsteimer—has announced they will set off on tour this June with Cowboy and Indian. On tour fans can experience new songs that showcase Stollsteimer’s solid song-writing and versatile vocal capabilities.
From the heart-aching “Crawling Back to You” to the hauntingly beautiful “Cumberland's Crumblin,” these songs and more, including a new cover of the Pixies' “Where Is My Mind?”–can also be downloaded for free now via BandCamp at: http://thehoundsbelow.bandcamp.com/album/the-hounds-below-ep. THE HOUNDS BELOW will embark on an 11-date tour kicking off June 4 in Columbus and will then head south for gigs in Athens, Georgia and Durham, NC. Dates throughout the Northeast will follow including two nights in New York City and shows in Newark, DE, Providence and Toronto for NXNE. They’ll wrap with a hometown show in Detroit on June 17.
The band was originally formed in 2008 after Stollsteimer wrote a group of songs dealing with a previously unexplored emotional territory. His songs encompass a refreshing yet nostalgic aesthetic, creating a distinct sound that is captured in every reverberating note—think Roy Orbison meets Modest Mouse. Stollsteimer's genre-defying songs transition effortlessly through a variety of musical styles.
