ANNOUNCE DATES FOR FIRST LEG OF
‘JAGERMEISTER MUSIC TOUR’;
‘TEN THOUSAND FISTS’ OUT SEPTEMBER 20;
CBGB SHOW CONFIRMED FOR DAY OF RELEASE;
FIRST SINGLE ‘STRICKEN’ ALREADY AN ACTIVE ROCK TOP TEN HIT;
As DISTURBED fans count down to the September 20 release of their new album TEN THOUSAND FISTS (Reprise Records), the band have confirmed dates for the first leg of the Jägermeister Music Tour. DISTURBED’s headlining trek launches November 4 in Minneapolis and runs through December 22 in Baltimore, with Corrosion of Conformity scheduled to open. DISTURBED will play multiple nights in intimate venues throughout most of the 32-date tour to give fans a chance to get closer to the action on stage. The tour’s second leg will happen in early 2006 (dates TBA).
One of the tour’s highlights will be three nights in DISTURBED’s hometown of Chicago (November 24-26), where they co-produced TEN THOUSAND FISTS with Johnny K, who also guided 2000’s 3.4-million-selling The Sickness and 2002’s platinum-plus-selling Believe.
To mark the new album’s release–and wrap their current six-and-a-half-week North American tour–DISTURBED will perform Tuesday, September 20 at the legendary CBGB in New York City. Tickets for the special event will only be available through the band’s official fan website (www.thedisturbedones.com) and New York’s K-ROCK FM, which is sponsoring the show.
DISTURBED–one of heavy rock’s most commanding and relevant bands–recently unveiled the cover art for TEN THOUSAND FISTS album by renowned comic artist Greg Capullo and producer/director/artist Todd McFarlane on atwww.SPAWN.com. The striking cover image depicts a diverse multitude following the band’s daunting, smiley-faced mascot.
On TEN THOUSAND FISTS, singer DAVID DRAIMAN’s commanding, unchained vocals soar to exorcize the emotions of social anxieties, culture clashes and world events. Drummer MIKE WENGREN’s thunderous attacks and tribal double-bass beats are balanced by guitarist DAN DONEGAN’s brutal crunch with siren leads.
The album’s first single “Stricken” is currently #6 on Radio & Records Active Rock chart while the song’s video is being played on Fuse. Filmed in an abandoned Los Angeles hospital by director Nathan Cox (Queens of the Stone Age, Marilyn Manson, Korn, Linkin Park, Staind), the ominous video features dynamic performance footage of the band interspersed with a wide range of stirring images.
“Stricken” is among the more personal of the new tracks. According to DAVID, “It’s about those moments when someone comes into your life and it’s almost as if you’ve been afflicted with a disease you can’t get rid of. Devastating and debilitating.” Needless to say, this all-encompassing relationship gave birth to an eviscerating song of infernal love, complete with an explosive lead guitar burst from DAN.
“There’s true substance, true passion, true emotion and relevancy to all of these songs,” explains DAVID. “And it’s an interesting record, in that it seems to really effectively fuse elements from our last two records, like the aggression and darkness of the first, with the more melodic and complex nature of the second.” True to his word, TEN THOUSAND FISTS (Reprise) is that rare hard rock album that exists purely in the now, with lyrics that are influenced by both the state of the world and by inter-personal relationships at the midpoint of the decade, and powered by riffs, beats and solos that sear with the fury of the best rock and roll.
