DISTURBING NEWS: DISTURBED are taking the intensity of their newly released debut THE SICKNESS (Giant Records)–which debuted in the top 50 of Billboard’s “Heatseekers” album chart–to the people. Their single “Stupify” rocketed to #1 on Album Network’s “Aggro,” HITS’ “Praise The Loud” and FMQB’s “Metal” charts. Beginning March 31, vocalist DAVID DRAIMAN, guitarist DAN DONEGAN, drummer/programmer MIKE WENGREN and bassist FUZZ will be hitting the road in support of hard rock icon Danzig, to perform what the LA Weekly praised as “a resuscitating jolt of unwholesome tweaked soundage.” DISTURBED will increase the wattage this summer with a coveted slot on Ozzfest (tour dates to be announced soon). In a recent review of their February 8 Los Angeles show, U.K. magazine Kerrang! described the band as “Rhythmic, heavy and full of little electronic quirks, their sound is head-bobbingly groovy and greasy.” Continuing, Kerrang characterized Draiman’s frontman performance like this: “Wild-eyed, he sings in a rapid-fire, rasta-fied voice, letting out primordial simian grunts in between each line. It’s as if he’s devolving into an altered state right before our eyes.” DISTURBED recently hosted a sold-out record release show at Chicago’s Metro, turning away hundreds of the faithful at the door from the venue which had 1,100 fans stuffed inside.
