ELECTRIC ZOO: TRANSFORMED
–NEW YORK CITY’S ELECTRONIC MUSIC FESTIVAL—
ATTENDED BY 80,000
OVER LABOR DAY WEEKEND
FESTIVAL TO RETURN IN 2016

Electric Zoo: Transformed–the three-day electronic music festival which took place this past Labor Day Weekend, September 4-6, at Randall’s Island Park in New York City–concluded with great success. 80,000 fans from 50 states and over 80 countries in attendance–along with those from more than 30 countries around the world tuning into the live stream on Beatport’s Twitch channel unleashed by T-Mobile–witnessed the transformation with headliners The Chemical Brothers, Above & Beyond and Alesso as part of a musical line-up boasting over 90 artists and brand new staging and production.
Festival organizers Made Event, in creative partnership with electronic music experience pioneer ID&T– well-known for its cutting-edge production of events such as Mysteryland, Sensation and TomorrowWorld—took ELECTRIC ZOO into seventh year reimagined and reenergized. The Main Stage was a soaring phoenix with its wingspan reaching out wide, while the Riverside Stage took the form of a giant octopus.
From Amine Edge & DANCE and Alison Wonderland to Zeds Dead and ZAXX, ELECTRIC ZOO: TRANFORMED was an A-Z of the most relevant artists and unique genres in electronic music right now. Highlights included main stage sets from Borgore, Adventure Club and Deorro, plus artists like Excision, The Glitch Mob and Gramatik in the MasterCard Hilltop Arena. The fest’s three specially curated stages also soared with memorable sets: Legendary Sunday School Grove welcomed Awakenings, the long-running Dutch techno festival, making its North American debut with 12 acts, including Get Real (Green Velvet & Claude Von Stroke), Adam Beyer, Paco Osuna and Henrik Schwarz live and Pete Tong’s ‘All Gone Pete Tong’ stage with Hot Since 82, Patrick Topping and Jonas Rathsman. The Thomas Jack Presents stage with Robin Schulz, Claptone and Sam Feldt was a huge success.
ELECTRIC ZOO: TRANSFORMED generated positive reviews with press and fans alike:
“Electric Zoo’s five stages held abundant options and polarities: sugary and brutal, reverent and raunchy, plush and sparse, melodic and atonal, seamless and quick changing, formulaic and full of surprises. Electric Zoo is settling in as an institution.“
— Jon Pareles, New York Times (9/7/15)
“The three-day dance-music blowout on NYC’s Randall’s Island was blessed with perfectly sunny, breezy weather and a relatively calm crowd. From veteran DJs to buzzy young talent, surprising mash-ups to octopus-shaped stages…”
— Brittany Spanos, Rolling Stone (9/7/15)
“…a number of well-curated stage showcases from the likes of Awakenings and All Gone Pete Tong held their own beneath headliners The Chemical Brothers, Above & Beyond and Alesso…”
— Matt Medved, Billboard (9/7/15)
“Dressed in everything from Batman outfits to elaborate body paint patterns, ravers were treated to some of EDM’s biggest names, past, present and future. “
— Hardeep Phull, New York Post (9/5/15)
“What played out across the weekend was less a transformation and more a return to the essential elements that won the festival its devotees in the first place…”
— Jack Trenoning, Beatport (9/7/15)
“So when Electric Zoo: Transformed rolled around this Labor Day Weekend, expectations for Sunday were all over the place. By the end of day two, Zoo had already blown those expectations out of the water with all-new production, crowd control, festival grounds carefully arranged in attendees favor and flooded by performers and art; Awakenings and blessings from the techno gods, VIP lounges fit for even New York City’s most daring partiers, fireworks that could’ve woken up neighbors all the way in New Jersey, and not to mention a f*cking massive Main Stage that will now be put in the conversation with the Ultras and Tomorrowlands of the world.”
—Staff, Dancing Astronaut (9/8/15)
“Six years ago, New York City’s Electric Zoo stood out as a beacon in the sea of darkness that was America’s growing awareness of electronic music. Seven Electric Zoos later, the event has now “transformed” into a bright spot amid the plethora of dance music festival experiences that have exploded in recent years.”
— Marcus Dowling, Fest300 (9/8/15)
In addition to a wide range of delicious festival fare curated by New Fork City, attendees experienced exclusive benefits including great views of the main stage from T-Mobile’s #MusicFreedom Lounge with a VIP double-decker viewing deck and a special T-Mobile ferry with its own DJ (including a surprise set from ELECTRIC ZOO headliners Above & Beyond), MasterCard who sponsored the Hilltop Area and an exclusive viewing deck, vitaminwater who sponsored the debut of the Treehouse in the Hideaway, a newly added shaded area by the East River with NYC local DJs, and Smirnoff who had two “Rendezvous Lounges” where festival goers were able to partake in Smirnoff specialty cocktails up close to the two outdoor stages. Other sponsors included MillerCoors, Red Bull, the official energy drink of ELECTRIC ZOO: TRANSFORMED; Diff Sunglasses, Selfeo App, Beatport, Snapchat charity partner LifeBeat, Hubert’s Lemonade, Vita Coco, L’ANZA Healing Haircare and Core perfectly balanced water.
Preparations for ELECTRIC ZOO to return in 2016 are already underway.
